    WHAT A NIGHT!

    Mares vs Vic.

What a fitting fight. Classic Vic, with his akward style, showing his power and attitude, and a defining fight for the young Mares! Walking through knockdowns, blood, and flush powershots to take the victory by force!

    Khan vs Maidana.

Wow. Khan shows his supreme talent early on, overwelming Maidana with speed and power, getting a suprise body shot KD early on. While Maidana shows the toughness he has to weather the storm and keep putting pressure on Khan, and we see Khan start absorbing some pretty good shots from a very good puncher. I have nothing but respect for the toughness both of these fighters showed tonight. Unbelievable.

Both of these fights are FOTY contenders in my eyes, and just awsomeness all around. Congrats to all the fighters tonight, they stepped up to eachother in the type of fights that make boxing the greatest sport on earth, taking eachother head on in tough fights. That is the way it should be done, and I appluad these warriors tonight.

What a fitting way to close out 2010 :happy

Wow. I honestly cant remember last time I enjoyed a night of boxing as much as I did tonight..

The bantamweights lived up to my expectations.. what a 2 utterly stunning fights to watch.. Agbeko/Mares will be epic!

I havent seen Khan/Maidana yet, but understand it's a FOTY candidate..

Hell of a night. Ortiz-Peterson and Khan-Maidana were much better fights than what I was expecting. Especially, Khan-Maidana damn, then the 118 Tourney was damn good. Hell of night! Christmas came early boxing fans!!

Yea, it deserves a :patsch :patsch :patsch Khan sucks, Khan has a glass jaw, Khan lacks heart, Khan got lucky, Maidana is a bum, etc. :patsch it does my head in at some of these brain dead posts.

This is the last time I get on after a big fight. Everybody starts drinking haterade and the stupity goes through the roof after big fights.

Tonights fights were awesome, simply awesome. The excitement i felt during the Khan-Maidana fight was monumental, i haven't felt that kind of excitement in forever.

It really was amazing. Back and forth action high drama. Doesn't get any better then that. Did you bet on Khan?

I put my money on Ortiz, Mares and Randall Bailey. I was about to put some on Khan, but my sportsbook had already taken the odds off of that fight when i had decided to. I got in on Bailey at +190, and put the majority of my wagering money on that fight, and it was obviously going great until the fiasco took place. I won money from the Mares fight, and all the money i placed on Bailey and Ortiz was refunded because of the no-contest and the (ridiculous) draw. I thought Ortiz won a clear decision. Great predictions from you as usual.....props. I'm really looking forward to the Huck-Lebedev fight next week (and your analysis of the fight, of course!) Thanks again for the good predictions.

Yea, the Ortiz fight was very strange. I as well thought it was close, but clear and thought Ortiz was going to win easy because he is a Golden Boy fighter. So, yea that was definitely surprising. Mares had me worried there for a bit with the cut, and the point taken away, and then the KD. he pulled through and showed a lot of toughness. Darchinyan was surprisingly sharp, haven't seen that from him in awhile since the Arce fight. Yea, no problem glad I could help out. :good

Its funny you say that man, because it was the same here. Right before the bell dinged for the start of the first I was already on the edge of my seat

These were just massive fights in their own way, my friend and I went out a bit after the fights but we wound up talking about them again and again anyways lol, Mares showed some real fire tonight, and Maidana/Khan put on a show.

It will be interesting to see what people have down for their FOTY now.

I think my favorite fight of the year has changed however.... Cant decide though if its Mares vs Vic or Khan vs Maidana.

    Awesome night of boxing.

    Month isnt over eather :bbb

The two fights I didnt get to see much of were the Ortiz/Peterson.... I am a bit suprised that Ortiz couldnt get the decision against Peterson. Interesting.

And I got to see the first round of Perez vs Kong, Kong was doing some very nice work, looked like hes tightened up a bit. But I didnt get to finish it due to the Khan/Maidana fight.

Between Vic, Mares, Kong and Perez, I really like all four of them and dont really root for anyone, just like watching the fights, I am happy for the winners and sad for the losers lol.... but Showtime put on a boxing fans dream with that little tourny.

I was kinda impressed with Vics ability to counter off the back-foot. I figured if Mares could bully him like he did a few times in there, that Vic would look a bit more flustered but he did some nice crisp counterpunching... towards the end he got a bit overwelmed but overall I thought he did a decent job. Mares came through some real adversity to win, good coming of age fight for the young warrior.
