Maidana deserves a lot of respect as well

He got up from that bodyshot where he was clearly in a lot of pain to turn the fight around make it close and almost knock khan out, in the middlerounds it looked like maidana was done khan beat him up bad in the 8th round, but he still managed to have 3 great rounds in the end almsot ko'ing amir.
Very good comeback, and he proved to me atleast that he isnt just a ko artist with no skill, he is a very good fighter. and would give most at 140 hell when they fight him.

Very very few boxers have that kind of heart, most would have gone into a shell after the beat he took in the first 3rounds, then to keep pressing and taking a beating to come back in the (6th was it?) then to rally so hard late, its toughness abnd drive not seen in many of the elite let alone average boxers

 

Exactly. This fight was always heading for a massive disrespect for the loser, but it turned to be exactly the fight to shut the whiners the hell up.

Maidana: survived huge body shot KD, all the crazy combos and worked himself into the fight, will be back on HBO I'm sure (more likely Ortiz-Maidana II)

Khan: great display of skills, and a massive heart surviving a monster Maidana shot and coming back strong in the next round

There's some place for technical critique (how Maidana needs to tighten that D and drop illegal tactics and how Khan has to look for the uppercuts and overhand rights better), but all in all, this fight was something really POSITIVE.

 

Hell yeah. The guy fought back after being hurt and never gave up. Maidana beats Ortiz in a 2nd fight easily.

I really liked Maidana last night he was clearly outclassed in the speed! Kept getting landed on and missed alot and was clearly was very tired but just kept going and going!

I'd like to see a rematch between the two of these guys it was an exciting fight!

 

he looked in a bad away after that body shot in the 1st, I didn't think he was going to get up at one point.

as the fight progressed he started pressing, just wouldn't stop coming forward. He was hitting Khan with sick shots as well.

When he got Khan in the 10th when the legs wobbled slightly he came back in with a short right hook that I thought would have taken Khan out.

 

Marcos Maidana is my hero.

 

Amazing fight. w/o the body shot he probably would have had the gas to finish Khan.

 

Taking a shot like that and rally back to have later rounds statement is quite respectable.

 

After the bodyshot he lost the next round but used it to regroup and get back in the game. It happened a few times. At times he did look tired as went in for the kill to finish khan off but when it didnt work was left tired for the rest of the round. Full respect to him it was a good fight after an initial body shot and a close one.

 

yeah that guy would give alot of other 140lbers big problems

Yep it was a hatton castillo bodyshot, how the **** he continued after being whacked like that was pure animal instinct.
Both came out of the fight bigger in reputation.
