I have never rated Smith at all and picked DeGale to win, but DeGale won in fantastic impressive style, better than I thought he would.
I hope DeGale keeps gradually stepping up, and not just sitting at one level, as he has shown that he is above British level.

    DeGale - Groves next

Chunky was awesome, the only thing I don't like is the constant switching to orthodox as all he does in this stance is paw a jab out and then switch back.

9/10 was impressed with the calmness and mentality of degale, but I was suprised with how comfortable he was at fighting in close. Also his defence thought his blocking and parrying of smiths punches was top notch.

Aside from the excellent skill he displayed, his mental toughness and composure really impressed me. Looks like he can hold a decent shot too which makes watching him more relaxed

Degale looked fantastic, to perform like that in only his 9th pro fight was amazing, he is a special talent.

Always liked groves but I think Degale would probably beat him with his hand speed.

Smith was a very good British Champion.

Has Degale inherited Smith's WBO ranking?

You would presume so, maybe 1 or 2 down but he will be high up. But it probably depends on where Frank wants him, if you catch my drift.

De Gale fought a very good fight yesterday however his opponent though British champion was not sufficiently skilled to compete with him. Personally I feel Groves wopuld have got Smith out of there earlier. Groves is the best yoiung technical fighter I have seen in the UK for quite a while. In my view he will defeat De Gale.

How can you say Groves is better than DeGale technically?

Yeah, I'm not sure I agree with that. Kenny Anderson gave him fits. I think Groves will win a world title one day but he isn't on the same level as Degale on last nights performance. Groves may have stopped Smith earlier but I'm not sure, Degale was carrying Smith for a few rounds before the stoppage. He was enjoying himself and in complete control from start to finish, that is what impressed me, not sure Groves has that discipline just yet.

When I assess fighters I look beyond the obvious and see quite a few *****s in De Gale. He may be able to handle domestic level types like Smith but he will come a cropper at higher levels. Groves is something special. He has had the more demanding tests on the way up. Smith never really had a prayer.

Based on the fct he has had 9 fights now, I rate the smith performance a 10/10. Punch perfect in my opinion, couldn't ask for any more.

    He beats groves comfortably.
