Show me a 35 year old version of gayweather fighting someone as athletic as khan and then we have a legitimate discussion. The last time he fought one was ages ago and even limited version of Hoya was competitive.

Prime for prime, there is no contest. But taking into consideration age, inactivity, it is ridiculous how many find it easy to dismiss khan with a scorecard of 11-1.

It would not be a walk in the park as most people here are saying. Mayweather's style would bode well with khan. Khan will always have problem with power punchers who are relentless pressure fighters like Mosley or maidan because although he might outpoint them, there is no way in hell that he can avoid not getting hit the entire 12 rounds. Against gayweather's style, he might be countered but at the age where he is approaching his prime and gayweather is almost past his, that athleticism might be enough to make it more competitive.

You can not analyze fights with blinders and remain frozen to their skills circa 10 years ago.

 

You guys are over stating the speed and Mayweather aspect. Floyd has faced more fast fighters than most fighters deal with in their career. Mosley was fast, Judah was fast and southpaw, Mitchell was fast and southpaw, Sosa was fast. This is another reason why I don't see the Pacquiao fight that hard for Floyd either, because he's seen speed before.

Now what happens when Khan gets his jab countered by Mayweather's pull counter over and over again. Does he keep using it or puts it away. If he stops using it, what happens after that.

Khan is a very gifted fighter, but he will never be a on the level of Mayweather and Pacquiao. He'll have a good career and my take the number 1 p4p spot, but I don't see him making a long rong

For the money, I would go with a mayweather UD but I think that I would put money for an upset big time.

The problem with 35 years old fighters is that they tend to age overnight. You couple that with the fact that he is fighting 2 fights every 3 years.

In gay's prime, he did not shutout 4 rounder Judah, what made everybody say that he will do it against almost as fast khan.

Btw, I am not a khan fan. I rooted for maidana and I knew that khan will outpoint him but I also was expecting maidana to connect with a power punch at some point. Maidana however is aousy finisher.

 

But mayweather has not been battered and beaten or been in non stop wars even if he is 35, or even 40. Mayweather pull counters over khans jab all night long.

 

You don't need to be battered to age in boxing.

They say that the prime age is close to 30 years old give or take a few years. And the younger the time it took to reach prime, the younger you past it too.

Some say may peaked at 135 which was several years ago where he literally was "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" aura to him. But by now, is he still prime? Obviously he is not. His style changed to accommodate a less athletic version of him like fighting in a pocket more frequently and being conservative with his punches.

People mistook that as silencing his critics with the way he was doing potshot before.

Who knows how he will perform next year or two from now.

Realistically, with all this inactivity and him being almost 35 years old, who knows?

:deal I think the best of Khan is yet to come, but this fight would be more about Floyd than Khan. They'd like to know if he's still at the same level he was in the last fight even if he does end up dominating Khan. I think Floyd might actually play the role of the aggressor in this fight. Khan is fast enough to give him problems in the center of the ring, maybe not skillful enough, but fast enough he is. Judah gave Floyd problems I'm sure Khan will also.

 

Floyd would nullify Amir's speed after a few rounds, once he figures out Amir's rhythm. Amir does not have enough tricks in his bag, yet, to trouble or confuse Floyd, IMO.
