That would mean a minimum of 2 years of waiting for GSP/Silva fight to happen, that could **** off a couple people.
Here's what you do, you keep Koscheck and Fitch in line for title shots, because Koscheck will just work his way right back up there, then when GSP ****s off upward or to the olympics, give Koscheck and Fitch title shots for the vacant title. I would put good money on both of them taking the fight, no matter what they say.
Fitch gets dominated again, Condit is good but not good enough, Shields deserves it on paper and if its a grappling match it'll be interesting.
Because Fitch is a good person and he doesnt deserve to be murdered. How about Fitch and Shields do a handicap match vs GSP thats the most fair fight.

After Shields GSP has to leave the division. People are now watching performances not competative bouts. You have to at least believe his opponent has a good chance of making it competative. GSP like Pac and many others must find that battle in facing bigger men, much like Silva was going to do at 205 before Bisping, Silva, Hendo, Belfort etc descended upon 185 and made it really interesting.
We need a good showdown between the top welterweights to determine the true number one contender. I'm tired of these fringe contenders leap frogging the other top five fighters without actually fighting them for the right to challenge for the title.
Why Condit before Shields? I'm a pretty big Condit fan, but Shields is clearly ahead of him in the pecking order of title shots. Excellent point, hell if Lytle wins, maybe he should get the title shot. Lytle is one fighter guarenteed to make an exciting fight with GSP, he has the power and technique standing, the bottom game to keep the fight competitive when GSP takes him down, the wrestling to stop some takedowns, and most importantly: huge brass balls that mean he will never just give up mentally and let GSP cruise to a victory.
Agreed Lytle is right there in the running for a title shot he has put together a nice 4 fight winning streak if you make it 5 with Burns, Brown, Foster, Serra and Condit well thats a very respectable run. The mental strength would be very key even if Lytle has been battered for 24 minutes and 50 secounds you will still see him going balls out looking for a finish. I rewatched the fight with Koscheck about a week ago and noticed despite losing every round, being elbowed about 300 times and having lost probably a gallon of blood he was still swinging for the KO till the final bell where most guys despite being behind still are catious afraid of being KOed. I wanna see somebody that really goes after GSP and isnt afraid to aggressivly seek out a KO because they are afraid of being took down and arent afraid to go for a submission because they might lose guard or a position. We know about Lytle's outstanding submission ability and his knockout power but his sweeps are among the best in MMA or atleast some of the best ive seen. I remember him sweeping both Hughes and Karo no easy feet id be curious to see if say Lytle swept GSP 2 minutes into a round and has 3 minutes to work on top. We dont see GSP on his back very often I wanna see how he handles a guy on top looking for a finish. Chris Lytle is that type of guy.
