This is the 12th round we're talking about? The final round? If so, you're simply to ****ing stupid to comprehend. Kahn didn't open up with any significant offense till the last 20 seconds of that round, and he shipped plenty of clean punches over the course of the whole three minute period. Jesus Christ.
This is the same reason I didn't give Amir the final round. It was a cheap attempt to steal the round using his handspeed.
nah, then he woulvve trained for a 15 round fight. thats like saying if a football game was 15mins longer they side losing couldve won. sure. maidana was knacked too
Khan won, thats 100% sure, i had it 113-112 khan allthough I wasnt really scoring it just enjoying the fight. I have not rewatched it yet, but i gave maidana round 3,6,7,10,11,12. But 114-111 certainly seems fair as well. any higher then that and youa re discrediting maidana, any lower and its discrediting khan.
Khan easily won round 11 for me. He was on the retreat yes but he circled well and his ring generalmanship was okay for a hurt fighter, and his defence wasn't bad either. He got caught with a couple of uppercuts inside and a few left hooks to the body but they weren't effective at all. Khan was the one landing the effective punches, I don't know what round you were watching. He landed a huge counter right uppercut that got the crowd responding and was the best punch of the round up to that point, and then seconds later he landed a big 1-2-3 combination of the ropes that I felt hurt Maidana.
i had it 8 - 4 khan....... why are people giving maidana round 3. khan out punched him and landed more shots. maidana landed a few but missed more.
And it looks like Roach was close to stopping the fight, himself: This content is protected 13.12.10 http://www.**************/news.php?news_id=1190&y=2010&m=12 Freddie was concerned for Khan Freddie Roach has admitted that he was close to pulled Khan out of his WBA title defence on Saturday night. But the fighter's vital responces to questions after a spiteful 10th round as Maidana poured on the pressure. "It looked like it could be over early. Maidana is a very resilient fighter." said Roach. "The conditioning got Amir Khan through that war tonight. He is still only 24 years and still learning. I wasn't happy he was on the ropes, but he was hurt. We've been together 3 years and it took a few years to get Pacquiao off the ropes too. "I'd like Amir to clean up the division as making 140 is not a problem right now, but I think he would be better at 147. "After the 10th round the first thing I made sure he was alright. It did cross my mind to stop the fight after the 10th round if he didn't give me the responce i needed to hear. "His answers were clear, he understood what I said - but if he hadn't I would have stopped the fight right there. "I told him to get out there, use his feet and if he could stick in there for two more rounds he wins the fight." concluded Roach. Roach now will fly over to celebrate Manny Pacquiao's birthday in the Phillipines and put his feet up until the new year.
There isnt even a case to score it a Maidana win or draw, it was a clear Khan win, the only debate is by how much 1/2/3/4 etc pts. Khan dominated the first 5 rounds pretty much, Maidana had a good 6 & 7, until Khan got careless/over confident a minute into the 10th Maidana was on his way to getting stopped before the end of the fight, he was a disheartened figure coming out into the 10th after being dominated in 8 & 9.
I actually think Maidana's reluctance to get up off his stool for the 10th was a ruse created between him and his corner to lull Khan into a false sense of security and make him over confident. It worked beautifully.
I would say 2 or 3 points. I thought Khan lost the last three rounds, a couple in the middle and round 3. If not for the bogus elbow call by the ref, I could see it being a 1 pt fight. If Khan would have gone down in the 10th, it may have been a draw.
My scorecards after rewatching it today 1Round = 10:8 Khan (knockdown) 2Round = 10:9 Khan 3Round = 10:9 Maidana 4Round = 10:9 Khan 5Round = 10:8 Khan (point deduction for Maidana) 6Round = 10:9 Maidana 7Round = 10:9 Maidana 8Round = 10:9 Khan 9Round = 10:9 khan 10Round = 10:8 Maidana 11Round = 10:9 maidana 12Round = 10:9 maidana Khan 113 Maidana 112 fantastic fight there should be a rematch
