I wonder what went to you ESB'ers mind when Khan got hit and went all over the place?
Out of the prefight analises it was pretty clear that a scenario as this one was not much of a surprise to anyone, but that Khan survived was!

My initial reaction was "Well, that took a bit longer as I expected...", and I was pretty surprised when he made it trough the round.

So what did you guys think?

I was looking at the clock thinking 'there is no way he's making it out of this round'. He took about 10 - 15 flush Maidana shots to the chin and stood up.

I thought cortez was going to jump in, he did only to seperate them even though maidana wasnt holding khan or anything.

The fact that he looked like he had drank more than me at the end of round 10 had impressed me the most.

I had been drinking from 6pm, yet in 3 minutes, he looked more smashed than me...I could definitely still walk...I think...

I like Khan but I was rooting for Maidana a bit more in this one, and I was finally glad he had gotten his first shot in, and I was astounded to see Khan take shot after shot, as well as frustrated to see Cortez in the middle every two seconds.

I was scared one was going to lose sacrificing a future in the sport after this fight due to an expected one-sided ending either way, but it only enhanced their standing.

Slightly off topic, but just seen AW's signature gif.

Why did Khan not continue to work the body. A few more shots on that same spot would've over the next couple of rounds would've ended this fight

For me, it was the most dramatic moment of 2010. I had flashbacks of the Gomez, Limond and Prescott fights, and immediately looked at the timer. Seeing there was almost a whole round to go, I sank back in my chair and began yielding to the inevitable. “He’s ****ed. He can’t survive this round. It’s over” I said. Then he just kept stumbling from one side of the ring to other, trying to keep the monster off him. I began shouting at the TV for him to take a knee. “You’ve ****ing lost the round. Just buy 10 seconds where Maidana won’t be pounding your face in!”

Then finally the bell went, and his lifeless body staggered to the corner. Watching the doctors rush in and his corner being surprisingly quiet, was ****ing surreal. His corner – like me – seem to have conceded to the fact that Maidana will end him in the next round.

But thank God he managed to sneak away from more bombs in the final two rounds.

I was so impressed with Maidana, after not only getting up after that great shot...but actually pressing the action in the latter rounds. What a warrior.

(Derry Matthews got taken out with the exact same shot in Prizefighter...Maidana got hit with a cleaner, harder shot, and continued...impressive stuff).

Yeah, he's got massive heart. He got hit with a shot which no one would've blamed him for staying down from. He knew he just had to suck it up and he'd get his chance.

It makes me wonder, if Khan had a reputation as being granite chinned and near impossible to ko, does it make it harder to get up from a shot like that? If you believe that, even though you're hurt, you've only got to land one clean shot and you win you must be more motivated to get back up.
