Amir Khan vs Ricky Hatton that Mayweather fought in 07

Maidana hits just as hard as Hatton, harder I think.

They're both about on par when it comes to cutting off the ring, and effective pressure.

That being said Hatton is such a one dimensional fighter it's laughable, it's amazing how far he got being as limited as he was.

Khan wins a tight UD after outboxing him for the first 8 rounds, with Ricky managing to find him in the later rounds to keep it close.

 

Hatton by late stoppage, or decision.

 

Hatton is like a sooped up Maidana. Everything Maidana does, Ricky does a hell of a lot better. Get a grip man, Hatton takes him out.

 

Khan took Maidana's best punches, but that doesn't mean he has a good chin. Hatton would work the body and head a lot better than Maidana would. *

And you are giving Hatton a lot less credit than he deserves. If Hatton is one dimensional, what is Maidana?

 

Off course it does... especially after the sustained beating he took for a whole round. It's contrarianism at it's finest to say that Khan has anything below an average chin after he took the punchers he did, from the hardest hitter in his division.

Hatton was a better inside fighter than Maidana though so I agree with that.

I'm also probably not the most unbiased person when it comes to Hatton as well I guess, his style was ugly and his fans pissed me off.

 

No, he showed a good chin on Saturday...but he has also shown in the past that he is vulnerable around the whiskers, and was hurt later on in the bout (yes I realize Maidana is considered the hardest puncher at 140lbs). He took harder punches earlier on in the bout, which points to his legs being a lot sturdier...and the fact that he didn't look visibly hurt until late on in the bout points to his conditioning.

But that doesn't mean he has a good chin, he definitely impressed me though. People react differently to different punches from different boxer's, just because he has taken Maidana's best, doesn't mean he can take anyone's best punches at 140lbs...or that he could take Hatton's best, especially when I consider Hatton the more intelligent pressure puncher.

 

I can see where you're coming from and I agree that Khan can't afford to pull that kind of **** again.

I also genuinely believe the Prescott KO had everything to do with Khan's poor conditioning and weight draining difficulties at the time, as opposed to his "chin" though.

Still I would like Khan in with more dangerous punchers, I think he's going to suprise people even more when he moves up to 147.

 

To be honest, I didn't fall for the, 'I was weight drained at Lightweight'...but he is definitely showing signs of an improved chin, and this is almost certainly down to his conditioning aswell.

Ariza uses ****ing voodoo or something, I don't know how he does it.

Just look what he did with Pac too, the guy was getting dropped by bodyshots as a Flyweight and yet he took some wicked body punches from Margarito.

 

I think it's also to do with what his old trainers should have been doing.

His old coaches packed his upper body with unnecessary muscle, which hampered his speed, and probably effected his ability to take a punch...slightly.

 

i think hatton would've roughed him up too much and eventually KO'd him. not as hard a hitter as marcos but more agressive and dangerous perhaps.
maidana looked almost lethargic right from the first bell against khan, and lazily plodded after him. i think an '07 version of hatton would've mauled the khan that fought on saturday.....

Hatton by stoppage, Hatton is not as quick as Khan but Hatton was a lot quicker of hand than a lot of people give him credit for... Everyone said Paulie had quicker hands than Hatton but look at how that fight played out. Hattons relentless aggression, accuracy, toughness and bdy shots would eventually get to Khan

 

Yeah Hattons footspeed is very fast, remember how easy he was able to close the distance vs mayweather in the first rounds. Once he gets on the inside of khan, that will negate khans speed and reach advantages
