maybe i rated khan too highly, but i expected him to dominate maidana. i didnt think the fight would be as competitive as it was. i did say pre fight i didnt think maidana had the power to put khan away, and i was proven correct in that sense, but i did expect khan to have the speed to put maidana away, the first round made me believe id called it 100% correct, but then maidana's chin held up to khans combos, and that is something i did not see coming at all. i know for a lot of people khan will have answered questions regarding his chin, but i never bought into maidana's power to begin with, i still think ortiz or judah would knock khan out. pre-fight i literally did not see maidana as any threat to khan, and after catching khan with all the shots he did, i think that fact was proven, he was never gonna out box him, and he showed he didnt have the power to knock him out. however i did see khan as a huge threat to maidana, and i rated khan as the best at 140. i think now for me he drops back to second behing bradley. regarding the title of my thread, you have to understand how much i did expect from khan. the reason i was unimpressed is because i expected him to cut through maidana like a knife through butter. that did not happen. i obviously over rated khan.
It's so often "The favorite was worse than I thought" instead of "The underdog was better than I thought.". Too often.
I was impressed with some aspects and unimpressed in others. His bodyshot in round 1 was beautiful, and he took Maidana's shots better than many would expect. He gutted out a close win. Unimpressive was his defense on the inside. He's also still kind of sloppy.
he is who I thought he was....avg boxer with excellent speed. No defense, no head movement, stiff above the shoulders, can't fight inside, can't clinch, although has power doesn't sit down on most shots and uses pitty pat combos for points.......he can compete with most but I don't see him lasting long.
Yea you were proven correctly slightly cause Maidana was an inch of tko Khan in the 10th round in which Khan was very lucky to survive. But this shows you didn't give Maidana respect going in this fight. Maidana has shown vs Kotelnik (i still think Maidana beat him) and Ortiz that Maidana is no push over and i knew he would give Khan hell in which he did.

I was hella impressed. Fight was 50/50 in my eyes. I never really believed that Khan was the favorite as most did. He won 7 rounds clearly, scored a KD and ate about 30 bombs that I never thought he could take.

Maidana would be a DANGEROUS opponent for ANYONE. I took more respect for Khan away from this not less. He showed true heart and determination. He didnt fold like many thought he would and believe me many fighters wouldn't have stayed up in that 10th round. I wonder how Bradley or Alexander would do against Maidana..but thats another argument.
i think khan didnt look good at times because he was so weary of maidanas power. he was fighting a bit cautiously. he didnt get in a real grove. i think if amir avoided that shot in the 10th which he should of done he would of continued to dominate.
You definately underrated Maidana...he took a lot and kept coming. And you expected Khan to stop a man that's never been stopped before.
maidana is one of the best fighters in the division he did really well against kotelnik and hes proved how good he is also he knocked out ortiz who was the"goldenboy" at the time. maidana's legit
