    Turp,

Larry Middleton had a style somehwhat like Ron Lyle.
A little slow, but with a good right hand.
But he did tend to get a little lazy in their at times.
He had a nice lead against Quarry through the first half of the fight, by scoring with good
    punches from the outside.
But he let Quarry back into the fight in the later rounds, to close the gap.
A Draw would have been fair.

    Turp,
    Ron Lyle,,,a tough dude.
Flattened Duane Bobick in 'One' Round the amateurs, in a regional meet.
He should have been the U.S. Representative in the 1972 Olympics, but the
U.S. Committee wanted Duane Bobick (white fighter), as he was more marketable.

Ron Lyle had a little bit of a 'dirty past', that didn't sit well with the U.S. Boxing
    Committee.

Whatever happend to Danny Mac? He fell out fairly quickly.

Bobick beat Larry Holmes twice in the amateurs.
Bobick also beat Mike Weaver a few times too.

    Yes,
    Minnesota, USA

Found out, Madison Square Garden offered Danny Mac a fight on Saint Patricks day
    in 1972.
Not sure with who, but it would have been wild!
But he turned it down, to fight Larry Middleton in the U.K. on 3/13/72.

I think MSG tried to put together a
Mac Foster vs. Danny McAlinden 10-round fight for St. Patty's Day 3/17/72.
The money was their for them.

Somebody in the McAlinden camp must have thought fighting Larry Middleton in the
    U.K. was easier pickings.

You have used the word yourself. You really think that Ali would have had any problems with a fighter like that?

    abraq,

Do you really think, I would think that Ali would have any problems with
    Danny Mac.

No,,,,,,,but Rudi Lubbers went 12 rounds with the 'Great Ali'
Would you have taken those odds at 300-1
No one knows, until you get into the ring.
