damn...if that's how you feel about gloves, then how do you feel about all the ***** moves pac and his team have been making and barking ???

nobody forced anyone, it was in the contract and nobody said **** about it until after the fight.....it aint like it was an issue before and i really doubt morales cared.....fighters rarely care about **** like that

I read on pacland that Rustico Torrecampo forced PAC to fight without a mouthpiece, made him wear 16 oz gloves, and only allowed spoiled chocolate milk to be used in his corner. You gotta wonder why PAC ran from a rematch though.

This is a very stupid question. It's because Morales was the more popular fighter at that particular point in time & could dictate the terms. Any fighter thats in position to dictate the terms will try to have every advantage over their opponent possible. Thats the way boxing is. If i became "the man" in boxing, im going to pick the ring size, gloves, weight, etc & if you don't like it your gonna have to beat me & take my spot.

If it was Pac asking for certain types of gloves to decrease power you would be calling him a *****, you pathetic, ridiculously biased idiot.

Kind of off topic, but I was wondering why a boxer hasn't developed his own boxing gloves brand. Like the way that Jordan has his sneaker brand.

Im suprised nobody has developed a brand of gloves, sneaker, stomach guard or even head gear with there names attached to it.

its a stupid question (according to you) but you answered it nicely :good

its not only morales did this (dictating the terms), but any fighter who's in the higher position than their opponent. oscar did this, floyd, pac, etc. and no, i think it's not a ***** move.

From what I remember, Roach and Pacquiao did complain about Pacquiao being forced to wear the "winning" brand, when Pacquiao preffered and always had worn "Cleto Reyes."

.......and btw, Morales in this circumstance had nothing to do with forcing Pacquiao to wear the "winning" brand.
.......that was all honest Bob Arum's doing.

Its a ****ing long story, but here's the brunt of it......

........Bob Arum conned Manny Pacquiao's then promoter Murad Muhamad.
Arum seduced Murad into believing that he was doing him a favor by leaving the Marquez-Pacquiao rematch by the wayside, and giving them a much bigger opportunity and bigger payday to fight Morales.

........by this time, Murad did'nt give a damn about the specifics such as gloves and ring size, all he cared about was the increase in his financial gain when comparing a Pacquiao fight against Morales as opposed to the initial negotiations for a Marquez fight.

In short, Murad Muhamad had his head clouded with what mattered to him $$$$$, that he forgot to protect the interest of his fighter in the contract specifics.

Arum drew up the contracts, and since it benefited Morales who had a history of hand issues to wear the winning gloves.......Arum tossed that specific into the final contracts and made Muhamad and Pacquiao sign them.

Obviously Muhamad and Pacquiao did not read all the specifics of the contract, as when the fight was only a few days from its date, Freddie Roach was in the media bitching in frustration over the contract stipulation signaling the both fighters must wear "winning."

I can only guess, but my hunch knowing both the history of the dishonesty and lies of both Arum and Muhamad.......its possible that Arum bought off Muhamad and had that stipulation thrown in there for Muhamad to keep quiet and have Pacquiao unknowing sign the contract.

Yeah...because, they knew he had an aversion to having his blood drawn close to the fight, right? :think

I'm not saying Pac lost cause of the gloves so all that talk about how I'm making excuses can go out the window.

I'm just saying that if you're in Pac's shoes it sucks to be not allowed by contract to wear the gloves you wanna wear when you're already moving up in weight. It sure as hell doesn't help you know what I mean?

Maybe calling it a ***** move was too much but it's definately a disadvantage for Pacquiao who was already facing the challenge of going up in weight again after only 3 fights at 126.

You'd think someone with Morales' warrior spirit would let Pac wear the gloves he wants to wear instead of putting a clause in the contract that Pac has to wear the Winning gloves.

Pac wasnt forced per se, he signed it. It probably had something to do with Pac's power that they wanted neutralized. The gloves couldnt have changed the outcome that night. EM was outstanding and executed a perfect gameplan. Pac did learn a lot about EM after that.

Lol, I'm surprised people haven't grilled you more on this comment, because Pac's team has put stipulations on all of his recent opponents. I know you are a Pac fan, but you are usually a bit more level with your comments.

I remember a few years before that it was customary to wear the same gloves, and kind of still is, but most people like the same brands.

I'm guessing for one Morales wanted gloves that were better for his hands and Reyes has some sting to it making it easier to get cut. Maybe he had a soft spot he wanted to protect. The power department is negligible and I'm sure if it makes you hit that much harder Reyes should be banned for performance enhancing.

Pac has been grilled for his stipulations. I don't see what makes Morales so above reproach.

I still feel that for a fair fight both fighters should be allowed to wear whatever gloves they want as long as it's within the rules.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who is moving up in weight and going after one of the p4p best fighters in the sport in your first fight at a higher weightclass, and then you find out that you have to wear softer gloves.
