In defeat he has been awesomely humble, respectful and fullof praise for Khan, certain English fighters i could mention could learn a lot from this.

He has gone way up in my estimation for the heart he showed and the humility after the fight, a new favourite of mine.

    That is all.

    I agree. Good thread.

He even let Khan take his picture in his underwear.

It was pretty cheap when he went straight for Khan at the start as well when Amir put his glove up. But it is a fight after all and we all know Maidana was gonna have a hard time outboxing Khan. He actually boxed pretty well though and won at least 5 of the 12 rounds.

He'll be avoided a while now though I can't see why any of the top names out there would want to fight him. All this in the US about Khan 'choosing to fight him' is bollocks. No one chooses to fight someone like Marcos Maidana. He was his mandatory for over a year and a proper mandatory at that.

    you mean in the 1st

and there was nothing wrong with that, once the bell goes its time to fight.

heck i remember freddie roach once got pissed off with one of his fighters for touching gloves gloves with the opponent and told him to **** it and hit him and that they can be best buddies after the fight but in the fight its time to fight.

I've actually not seen a full interview by him bar a few quotes ppl have been throwing around, there is the one of him saying he thought Cortez was gonna punch him, and why not, he did catch a clean elbow off the guy lol.

But i think Maidana's his own man, a grumpy miserable *******, but his own man lol.

And it wasnt Khan who wanted the pic of Maidana in his underwear, its some Argie bloke in a yellow T-shirt and a cap lol Makeof that would you will. Although Khan did push passt his own security team to get he pic taken

    You mean the 11th?

When the bell goes Maidana wants to fight not touch gloves.

Still thought it was a bit classless. It's good form to touch gloves in the first and last rounds. Being a **** isn't especially admirable. If Maidana had KO'd Khan then everyone would have discredited the win.

It's a cheap shot, whether allowed by the rules or not.

no they wouldn't, this happened before its a non issue, the had just touched gloves 10 seconds ago when the ref gave the instruction.

tell me was it classless for khan to punch maidana when he was ad******g his trunks?

was it classless of floyd to punch mosley when he was talking to the ref?

was it classless of gatti to get hit while complaining to the ref?

there is 3 minute of fight time, use every second of it to your advantage, show sportsmanship before and after a fight.

Yes, but don't be a dick when someone shows you courtesy at the beginning of the fight. It's not a big issue, just thought he was being a bit of a dick.

you can think that but you weren't in the ring, he was in there with a guy that throws 10 punches a second and is alot taller and more skilled than him, he also had a bonus of $100,000 to win if he knocked khan out so he took every chance he could get, he's not gonna get another big day payday like this, it was khan being stupid throwing his arm out like that against a fighter whos fighting to eat.
