Scratch Calzaghe's name from that short list...he didn't become "popular" until after the Lacey bout, and even then it was nothing compared to the fanbase Hatton had. It's a shame really, he didn't get the coverage he probably deserved...which may have also stopped the odd big bout.
Everyone pretty much knows of his name, not sure if they would stay up till 4.00am to watch him though. I watched the fight with 10 other guys, all English and they were all rooting for him. I didnt knew naseem was so popular, true he had a lot more charisma then most fighetrs but even so. Its nothing to do with the fact Khan is a muslim, the guy is a total wanker thats why the average joe doesnt like him. I know quite a few people that have paid to watch him fight live just to see him get sparked out, countless more buy his PPV for the same reason. Most Scottish people i speak to dislike Khan for the massive count he took (was handed) against Willie Limmond. I myself cant stand him basically because he beats a total tomato can or a nobody then goes on TV the next day claiming to be the second coming.
