The Ring magazine have gone to new levels of lows with their new adjustments of the SMW ratings. Rankings should be based on results not potential or hype, as hype jobs can get exposed and potential isnt always achieved. Recently the Ring had Bute rated at #1 with Ward as #2. Now Ward has beaten Bika, he is rated at #1 and Bute #2, yet Bute already had a more impressive victory over Bika already, so Ward beating Bika less impressively than Bute, gets rated above him atsch. Now the last year had Kessler at #1 but Ward scored a victory over Kessler (however you view it), but that one victory for Ward combined with a victory over Miranda wasnt better than Butes overall resume, so Bute was rightly moved to #1, with Ward at #2 and Kessler at #3. Kessler beat Froch, and all Froch has done since is beat a fighter who lost his last fight, yet now Froch is rated above Kessler atsch, for the one victory, over a fighter coming off a loss. New ratings have Ward #1, Bute #2, Froch #3, Kessler #4. Completely bias ratings by the Ring putting Ward at #1, when he hasnt a better overall resume than Bute and looked less impressive beating Bika. Remember how The Ring had Dawson in their P4P top 10 for beating a couple of fighters 14-15 years older and Adamek who wasnt a great LHW. Looks like they are starting to do it all again
Ward Deserves #1 spot , bute shouldnt be 2 hes not even top 5 and froch lost to kessler he should be below him the smw rankings should be 1. Ward 2.Kessler 3. Froch 4.Dirrell 5.Abraham 6. Bute
1. Ward 2. Froch 3. Kessler 4. Dirrell 5. Bute 6. Johnson 7. Abraham 8. Bika 9. Stieglitz 10. Andrade ..... 15. Green imo
To me: 1. Ward 2. Kessler 3. Froch 4. Bute 5. Dirrell 6. Bika 7. Johnson 8. Abraham 9. Stieglitz 10. Andrade
Ward is a american dirty fighting hypejob, Froch should be number 1, bute 2 ward 3 kessler 4, direll 5, abraham 6
How can The Ring have Bute at #1 and after beating Bika less impressively be promoted to #1? Dosent make sense You have to base ratings on results. Froch has a better resume than Bute and Ward, but lost to Kessler who Ward beat, so cant be above Ward. Bute is undefeated and has a better overall resume than Ward, so should be rated higher. Now Froch has a better resume than Bute but cant be rated above due to above. If the rating werent based on victories but on resumes than Kessler would still be #1 after a loss etc, but it dosent work that way. It is based on results

I wouldnt wipe my arse with the ring magazine. Everyone bar a few braindead yanks could see Dawson was an exposing waiting to happen and his over inflated ranking totally unjustified :deal. It seems they still havent learnt their lesson and continue with no method or logic to their now laughable rankings.:tired
I realised that, I did a thread predicting Pascal to beat Dawson. Still Ward being promoted to #1 for beating already beaten by Bute Bika, tells me they are lining up Ward for P4P rankings for beating leftovers atsch
Because Ward's move to # 1 isn't based solely on Bika, to which you are alluding to. It adds to what he's already done. And beationg Kessler is better then anything Bute's done.
Ward had a thin resume after Kessler, only beating fringe top 10 guy Green and top 15 guy Miranda. After Ward beat solid #6 Bika, he moved up, because his resume was a lot less thin. Meanwhile, Bute's resume, while deep, lacks a marquee win, which Ward has. Is it that hard to understand? I've been as big of a Bute supporter on here as anyone not from Quebec or Romania, but Ward passed Bute for me with his win over Bika as well, even though it was a close win. His wins over #1, #6, #8 and #15ish look better to me than Bute's wins over #3, #7, #8, #10, #10 and #15ish, and better than Froch's wins over #4, #5, #10, #15ish and loss to #3.
Ward is the best SMW as it stands today, stop ****ing crying, it's common sense to anyone who actually watches fights. Do they even have cable/TV/big fights in the countries where you're from, do you have to read about it a month or two later and count on the couple of photos included to tell the story?
