A little strange, he gets a win (In many people's eyes against the very hyped Alexander, and has beaten Maidana) but is rarely mentioned along with Bradley, Khan, Maidana and Alexander. Even Ortiz for all his under achievements seem to get more exposure and is talked about a lot more. So my question is, where does Kotelnik fit into the 140 picture?
How about Judah-Kotelnik? One reason his name might not be brought up is because Amir Khan dominated him and many people considered Khan to get knocked out again soon.
How about Khan v Judah in the uk then on the same night in the States, Ortiz v Peterson rematch and the Madiana v Kotelnik rematch.
how about a non paper view event with all these fights on it mayweather-pacquiao klitschko-haye martinez-cotto
he still beat maidana and alexander he deserves to be mentioned, bradley would edge a close decision I think, he would still beat alexander
US networks and media erased the name 'Kotelnik' from their own and their viewers/readers memory following Andriy's rain on the Alexander-Bradley parade that ended in that sickening robbery. I wouldn't be surprised if they put him on network blacklist or something. So who would want to fight the uncrowned unified LWW champion who doesn't bring the marbles to the table due to politics, but brings those skills that according to 90% of our posters defeated the much hyped youngster? You see Berto calling out big names and fighting LWWs, but you don't see him picking on Andriy Kotelnik and that should tell you something. I feel really bad for the Ukranian. Even Floyd Mayweather had him winning and he was backing Devon.
HBO doesnt want Maidana, Kotelnik, or Mabuza in the spotlight or to win fights, because they dont like foreign fighters, probably becsause they dont think they can build an American fanbase (which isnt true, it just takes more time). thats why they cant win decisions on HBO or Showtime. Sergio Martinez was the exeption, but he wasnt until he took it out of the judges hands. Had the Williams fight been close and gone to the cards he would have lost again. This guy knocked out Cintron and still couldnt get the decision. Kotelnik is still in the mix but he needs to win decisively each time out if he want to get another big fight.
Kotelnik was offered to fight on last weekends HBO card but turned it down. I think it was against V.Ortiz.
Watch the fight, he didnt take every round. I had it 118-111, Sky scored as 117-112. But during the fight Amir always was far ahead on point so he knew he can give away some rounds just running and defending.
Listening to the commentary during Williams-Martinez II, they sounded more dejected than anything at what was arguably the KO of the decade. If any of the lesser-known foreigners decide to become more than just "an opponent", they better hope they score a clean knockout like Martinez and Pirog did or else they're going to get ****ed in the short and long term. Pretty sad, really.
