    Is it because he's 5'11"?

Is Jean Pascall a "fat middleweight"?

was Mike Tyson and Joe Frazier "fat middleweights"?

it a harsh way of saying he should or rather could make middleweight and it would be to his advantage to do so , with his style it helps if hes the sronger bigger man

i dont know if hed be ight at the weight or if could even get there but he does look like hes maybe got a bit to spare at super

It has nothing at all to do with. How tall a fighter is. Smith looked a bit fleshy the other day and could easily make middleweight. As someone explained above calling someone fat at the weight is usually a not very nice way of saying they should be fighting at the weight lower. Smith had to go into the trenches with Tony Dodson! Dodson is an honest domestic fighter but nothing more. Smith somehow managed to get himself ranked 4 by the WBO. Anyone in the top 10 in the world would have done a similar job on him as Degale. Smith missed the boat here. He should have defended his British title again in that Scouse super middleweight merrygoround and then after that Frank would have been able to negotiate a big payday against a noted fighter. Smith would have been hammered but the 'real gone kid' would have kept his 'dignity' (pardon the pun) and the payday and publicity would have made it well worth while. Now he has nothing but a very bruised ego and not an ounce of class to acknowledge the fact he was beaten by a much better fighter. Smith says there are plenty of options left but I'm not sure where, Groves Magee anderson at supermiddle? I think all 3 would beat him. I wouldn't even fancy him at middle against Barker. Prizefighter might be the best option. I would never have been this harsh towards him, but his statements pre fight compared to the performance he put in don't justify his comments he has made after the fight. If Degale is nothing special and doesn't him hard then why did he embarrass you for 9 rounds.

Nothing to do with height. Smith is a fleshy former 154lber, it's easy to see. Same as Quigley.

He does carry a bit of weight - surely could go to at least 160lbs.

It's because of how much body fat he carries at the weight, even his back has no definition. Might be hardwork losing it but he should be a middle.

The flab on his back rolls as he moves. He one of them guys who carries weight on his back. Same as some do on gut. He just doesn't look in peak shape to me.

i heard a little rumor he moved up from 160 to avoid matt macklin, they were in the same gym and matt used to have it his own way in sparring.he seen quigley as a better way to a brittish belt rather than face baker or macklin. dont know how true that is!
