Amir khan and Carl froch havent stopped a world class opponent either. Does that mean they cant? Massive holes in your poor theory.
i would say lee's straight left and right hook have enough pop in them to take out good fighters - the difference is martinez is too smart and too good a chin to get stopped one thing that wouldnt surprise me if they fought would be if lee were to take a decision but martinez would win more rounds - lee to knock him over due once or twice to martinez' sometimes poor balance. that being said, i was a great fan of andys and his ability - thing is i seem to recall thinking this for about 5 years - will it ever be realised?
Jermain taylor was as shot as Carl daniels. Froch just out conditioned him. Lee ended former world champ Carl Daniels night with a single blow to the chin in his 7th pro fight, nobody ever did that to Daniels.
dont be pedantic, you know what i was saying. There is loads of grief lee takes on the brit forum is down to the barker macklin aspect and the fact that a certain proportion on here have a default negative mindset against irish guys, however how long will this take? there always seems to be some masterplan without anything materialising. he needs to take a risk against a fellow top contender and try to take him out in impressive fashion. I want him to suceed as much as anyone and watchin him against carl daniesl and someone else in his first 3/4 he looked like a shoe in for a world title but i just dont see where hes going
So you are saying it's impossible for Lee to hurt Martinez. LOL. I'm not saying he will but to say beyond any doubt he won't hurt him is incredibly foolish and ridiculous. Margarito hurt Martinez ffs.
Carl Daniels who won a vacant title 12 years prior and had been stopped 6 times prior?? Carl Froch - Taylor, Ried, Tatevosyan and Magee all fringe world class (i.e contender and x champs) and above. Amir Khan - Malignaggi, Salita Also Zbik stopped the guy Macklin faced on saturday in 12 rounds.
Some people seem to struggle with the concept of empirical evidence. Or even just evidence. There is no evidence that Lee has world-class power to hurt Martinez because he's never stopped even a fringe world-class opponent. He's never even faced one. I'm not saying he can't, I'm saying there's no evidence to support your theory, while there is evidence by exclusion to support mine. Margarito stopped Martinez something like ten years ago. And if you've seen the fight he was overwhelmed and exhausted more than anything else. Em... no. It's only a poor theory if you can't apply simple logic. Froch is a heavy-handed fighter and he stopped a world-class opponent in Taylor late in the fight. He's not some one-punch KO artist, but he can bang. Khan clearly isn't a massive puncher. He can dig a little, especially to the body (which can be misleading since it's the easiest place to hurt an opponent - just look at Ricky Burns!). All of his stoppages have been accumulation ones or where he's overwhelmed his opponent. If anything those two kind of prove my point.
Froch has fought some of the toughest fighters in boxing since his ascent to world level. Pascal - never been stopped Taylor - he stopped, but has other stoppage losses (to BIG hitters) Dirrell - ran away all night Kessler - world class since 2004, never down/stopped/badly hurt Abraham - never been stopped, carried on with a broken jaw etc etc Lee hasn't been in with that kind of opponent on a regular basis. He's largely been in with decent gatekeeper types that lose every time they step up.
