Round 5 Lindsay steps into a nice 1-2-3 and ducks out before Simpson can counterattack. Lindsay is reaching in with long straight rights and uppercuts behind his set-up jab and rocking the head of Simpson. Lindsay is walked into a corner but leaps forward to meet Simpson halfway with a hook and follow-up cross. Simpson takes a couple of nice sideways steps as Lindsay tries to shake his tail and nearly gets trapped on the ropes. Lindsay's feet move just a bit more smoothly and he's able to get back to center ring. Simpson lobs a triplet of underhand punches to the body and keeps pressuring behind his stiff hurting jab. Lindsay continues to use his own jab as a defensive or set-up punch. 48-47 John Simpson
Round 6 Lindsay jabs and moves. The tank that is John Simpson rolls onward and coolly sizes Lindsay up with right hands, calculating his blows rather than throwing wildly. BIG right hand hurts Lindsay and gets him scrambling to retreat. Simpson keeps at him and throws a healthy 1-2 out of his high guard. Lindsay tries to lunge in with slapping overhand punches from the outside in between fleeing spells. Lindsay finally connects with a solid combo, a 2-1 with the jab now landed meaningfully behind the right. Lindsay lands another good lead right but Simpson owned the round on the whole. 10-9 and 58-56 JS
Round 7 Simpson keeps his hard 1-2 working up high and delivers triple hooks to the body whenever prudent. Lindsay is drifting into the ropes and trying to square himself up to send something back Simpson's way. He lands a nice counter left hook off the ropes over a minute in - his first significant contact. Simpson claps each side of his body and windmills up over Lindsay's dropping arms. Lindsay is getting absolutely mugged. Simpson keeps focusing on the body, with a couple straying low but not egregiously so. Lindsay is smacked nearly into a corner. Simpson drives Lindsay back several steps with every right hand, and keeps pace. 10-9 Simpson 68-65
Round 8 Simpson presses in behind a straight thrusting jab. Right hands and left hooks to the body land for Simpson as he prods his way in. Lindsay is looking to trot off and lay in wait to land a lunging counter here and there. He does get a nice right hand to crash into Simpson's face but isn't doing enough. 1-2-3-2 from Simpson is largely blocked but still does damage as it slams Lindsay's gloves into his own face. Round 9 Simpson piles on his 1-2 as Lindsay tries now to use more upper body movement to make up for his slowing legs. Lindsay takes some huge swings with the left hook but misses. They trade body shots and high slaps to the sides and back of the head, with Simpson having a bit more substance left on his. They exchange arm punches in the pocket, with brief spurts of second-wind power punching. Simpson lands to the body and hammers Martin's nose down with the bottom of his right fist. 88-83 Simpson

Round 10 Simpson throws hard straight combos coming forward. Lindsay ducks and springs up on his toes with explosive hooks high and low. Simpson keeps forcing his way into range and dropping right hands squarely on Lindsay's face. Lindsay is telegraphing his lunges now and falling short, as Simpson catches up with him pulling back and pounds on his body. 98-92 Simpson
Round 11 Simpson is giving no reprieve and showing no deficiencies in stamina. He rips hard Barrera-like hooks to the body from mid-range while coming forward and overwhelming Lindsay with busy hands. Lindsay jabs and runs, every so often flopping his entire body forward into desperate overhand rights. Most of them miss but he lands a nice one. Simpson just pushes forward and lights him up to the body and the head, where Lindsay has a cut and huge puff around the eye. 108-101
