fighters like hopkins, K bros, pac, mayweather, asian guy with 70 wins, marquez, adamek, froch and ward (in a couple of years) should get way more respect and admiration,because they have the HUNGER and WILL to fight for legacy, they want to be history material and show that they are the best, you know how difficult it is to stay motivated, if you are a world champion and rich as ****, and to come in top shape in every fight, to give it all for as long as possible. no matter if they fight boring or dirty, this guys dominate 99% of other professional world class fighters and win. this is imo the most important ability of an atg and of course to be very succesfull doing that. so big props and respect to this guys:deal
To me the most important is beating quality opposition and taking challenges. Longetivity is very important but its not the most important thing, Foreman was 37-0 when he faced frazier, yet his win over frazier weighs more then those 37 combined, Chavez jr has a 41-0-1 record but its worthless at the moment. Or let me put it differently, if a guy avoids challenges and takes on fights he know he wins just to keep the longetivity going that is not worth much. On the other hand if someone simply is forced to fight lower guys because no good guys are available and thereofre dominates that is great, wlad and vitali for example.
yeah sure, the opposition is important, but for some guys, they can only fight the challangers from there time, so for example the k bros, wladimir beat about 20 guys who where in the top 10, thats ****ing great, even if they are not good, imo there are not that bad, how some guys say it here, no one can tell me that guys like: povetkin, chambers, byrd, adamek, peter, haye, chagaev, ibragimov, thompson are ****, these guys have great records and most of them very good amateuer experience, and normally if you are a good amateur, you will be a good pro. or hopkins had something like 20 defences, fought guys like calzaghe, jones junior young, pavlik, tarver and now pascal, thats real quality adamek fought the best at light heavy, at cruiser and is going to do that at heavy, pac/may, i don't need to add something froch fights only the best for the last 3 years and wins the asian guy won against the top contender kameda and so on, you get my point
think a second, before you become the joke of the day he fought and beat ca. 20 fighters who were rated in the top ten at the time when he fought them, for example brock, he had the 5 spot and after the fight he was outside of the top 10
