    Lora,

True to a degree..... However, I thought Toney and Griffin fought two stinky fights that Toney should've won..... Griffin was a cool guy from Chicago, but never truly serious....... Them fights with Monty Griffin stalled Toney's career and progress major league..... ****, I cannot even sit through them tape replays..... ZZZZ!!

I think Carlos beats the hell out of Dave "Sunday School Teacher" Tiberi, Sanderline Williams, old ass Mike McCallum, Montel Griffin and some guy named Thradzi...

Well, again.... I said earlier that Toney would lose to Monzon at 160 in a time machine.... 160 was too lean for Toney to maintain.......

I'd like to see how things would go at 170 and above........ In my book, Toney excells Monzon there.....

I rate Toney extremely highly at middle and supermiddle. The JT of 91-94 (eg Nunn, McCallum 1, Barkley, etc) was a superb fighter... but Monzon is all wrong for him. The middleweight king keeps him on the outside and wins a comfortable decision.

Says it all. Monzon wide decision. Monzon never fought over 160, so what would happen on the juice at 180lbs in a ****ing time machine is not at all relevant.

Most definitely, if the fight happens at 168-175, you gotta go with Toney, as he was proven there. He was definitely great against Barkley and Williams. I'm not saying I would bet against Monzon... but Toney was more proven, certainly.

Odd thing is, I also believe 160 was killing Monzon by 1974, and 168 would have done him well had the division existed back then..... Monzon must've nibbled on fruit the days' before the fight.... CHRIST!

:scaredas: I can't buy that though. James Toney looked in decent shape in 1994 against Jones, he was nowhere close to fat. His body has never looked that good since.

Sorry, bro....... Toney was chubby as hell at a listed 206 in his 1994 press photo with Jones..... Toney dropped 38 pounds in a short time and was sipping Gatorade after weighing-in on the scale...... Toney was limp as a 90 year old dick going into the fight..... The overall fight sucked.:?

do you know how many weeks he had to drop 38 pounds though?

If it's like 3 months then it could be done safely on a boxers schedule, but i'm sure it wasn't safely done with Toney of course.

Toney lost 38 pounds by way of Jackie Kallen's press clip in a mere "5" weeks...... Toney has also stated he was too heavy and 168 was too tuff to make in late '94...

Toney was done with 168 after his KO of Williams, but went ahead with his 3 million dollar purse with Jones..... It was the money... Always the ****in' dollar... CHRIST!!

Yep, that's a lot of ****en weight to lose if in fact it was 5 weeks. But to be fair, i'm very sure Toney has always had weight problems even before Jones and probably had to lose that kind of weight before too. Toney could get away with it though because he was an excellent all around boxer, but when he got in with the greater unorthodox Royale Jones he didn't know what to do. So yeah the weight loss had an affect on the fight but not as extreme as some people say, Toney got beat by the greater man that night.
