I got an idea that being great, winning a world title, then losing, then overcoming adversity by coming back and not only becoming champion but unifying the titles as well. Might've had something to do with it..

Heh, it's funny how Tszyu threads always run like this. He certainly knows how to divide boxing fans!

I think beyond a shadow of a doubt he has a rightful place in the HOF. He was a very gifted, hardworking and extremely skilled boxer/puncher with a hell of a right hand that gives him more than a punchers chance against any of the 140 pounders mentioned in this thread and who was severely avoided.

Why is it that none of the guys around that weight never fought the guy who was in the P4P top ten for so many years, spending quite alot of it in the top 5??? He was a dangerous man and many knew it.

IMO he sparks Mayweather early and takes Whitaker to a close points decision :deal

if you think tszyu even gets close to floyd you're living in dreamland.

i agree tszyu deserves HOF and rep, even though he really didn't beat top class prime opposition, but you need to put that flag away if you think he's going to get a sniff at floyd.

EDIT : sweetpea also. don't cheapen your views by being over nationalistic.

No **** as if he's going to outbox Pea Whitaker to a UD win.:yep
Zoo is great but I would pick Pryor, JCC, and Pea to beat him there at 140.

Guess that's part of the fun of being a boxing fan huh... we're all guilty of something akin to it, thus the prefix to my sentence "IMO", of which we're all entitled to, no matter how blinded by nationalism, bias and ignorance we all are at times.

They're fights I'd love to see.

Of course by all rights Tszyu should lose convincingly, but I think there's more chance people giving him little to no credit against those names will be surprised than I will by his performance against them. Simple as that...

No offense but but you really either have no knowledge on the topic or don't remember correctly.

Right after Lewis beat Tyson, the ring had a magazine.
Here it is by the way:
    This content is protected

There was a section dedicated to the Jr. Welterweight divison.
You can see it's on the cover called the Red Hot Junior welterweight and whole section is dedicated how JR. welterweight is by FAR the best division in boxing and Tszyu was the lone ruler of it..

    Forgot?????
For some reason fighters themselves have a huge respect for Tszyu. Even Mayweather and Roy Jones.. Remember Chris Byrd saying he was the best amateur ever.. Yet fans dont see that..

    Maybe fighters know little more..

And for the record Cotto was growing into his own when he was asked a question if he wanted to challenge Tszyu. He immediatly dismissed it.

Yes his resume could have been way deeper but he didn't duck no one. People just wanted nothing to do with him

Don't let the fanboys fool you. I know that Whitaker is the patron god of ESB but Mayweather is a harder fight for Tszyu.

Whitaker is a southpaw cutie who sometimes liked to go chest-to-chest and brawl. He is a perfect stylistic match-up for Tszyu who feasted on slick southpaws. People want to portray him as a boxing god who dominated every minute of every round but in reality he had close competitive fights:

    McGirt I
    Freddie Pendelton
    Dyosbelis Hurtado
    Wilfredo Rivera
    even Roger Mayweather

I would still favor him to win a close decision.

Mayweather is wholly different proposition. He is a righty and faster. He would shoulder-roll away from Tszyu's right hand. Mayweather is open to lefties. Tszyu would have to go to the body and rough him up. Tszyu had a good left hook but it was not as good as his deadly right hand.

How quickly people forget. At his best he was close to unbeatable. Obviously should go straight into the HOF.
