Bellew V Mckenzie: Explain The Stoppage.

He did hit him with a right hand when he charged in though. Still doesn't make up for the ref making a bad decision in stopping it.

 

He ran at him and the ref stopped him before he crashed into Ovill. He was going so fast he could have done serious damage.

 

What are we supposed to explain. Apart from the fact he did land a right hand as he ran in, you have pretty much told us what happened. What do you want a psychoanalysis of the ref? It was a bull**** stoppage end of story.

 

Science, Reason, Logic, we have such tools at our disposal and some things still remain beyond their application. Call them miracles, acts of god, some random chance event that if played out in a million other universes running in parallel would yet not yield the same result.

I believe we all have a guardian who protects us and helps us in our darkest hour. Mine is a casual acquaintance called Kate who always seems to be there for me when the chips are down. Tony Bellew's Guardian angel is Phil Edwards, handy he is a boxing referee really.

The problem was that McKenzie didn't put his guard up. I don't think the right hand Bellew landed after the knock down was powerful at all, but Ovill, in my opinion, was being cocky and the ref jumped in because it looked like he couldn't defend himself. It was definitely a bull**** stoppage but OM didn't help himself.

In fairness I am only going by what I saw on the night. I haven't watched it since. If I'm wrong, let me know.

 

Did a punch actually land? I thought the ref stopped him from actually reaching ovill.
