Sure Jackson could have ko'ed Fullmer.....if he connected right...but I don't think he would. Fullmer would have been too rough, strong and awkwardly clever for the Hawk, so I repeat my previous call that Gene would have won a 15 round decision, and clearly.

Lol..it sure takes some dedication to watch a roughneck like Fullmer sometimes..and Jackson is so naturally picturesque and aesthetically pleaseing with his tnt powered ko's...but this one would be agaony for Jackson..especiially the next day, lol...nursing all those bruises Fullmer would put on him.

Jackson's power in middleweight is overrated. He couldn't knock out Thomas Tate nor McClellan with one punch and Fullmer's chin compared to both of those guys are superior. Fullmer would be too tough, too rough, too strong and too rugged. I feel like he'd kill Jackson if they fought.
Jackson's power at middleweight is very much not overrated. He was one of the most dangerous punchers at any weight in the time he was fighting, whether at light middle or middle. The two examples you give are more about the limits of his ability as a fighter, not as a puncher. He'd had persistent eye problems and it was a near miracle that he managed to KO Herol Graham when he was barely a minute from the fight being stopped due to the fact that he couldn't see. By the time he fought Tate and McClellan he was clearly past his best and suffering from the same eye issues plus he wasn't as quick as before so his ability to score those one-punch kayos had diminished, rather than there being a sudden deficit in power. But I agree with you that Fullmer had the game to beat Jackson. I don't think he'd destroy him, though. I think he would grind him down over the course of the fight.
Idk man, What does eye injury have something to do with power? The fact that he hit McClellan and Tate with solid shots and not just that, a LOT and still couldn't knock them out. Overrated does not mean he doesn't hit hard, he still could bang at middle but not as hard as most people thought. Plus his knockout win over Graham is very overrated in terms of crediting Jackson's power. Graham is a guy who half of his loses came by knockouts. You can have guys like Shavers who people say overrated becuz he knocked out Jimmy Young and Roy Williams.
The eye injury wasn't related to his power, it was related to his declining abilities as a boxer. Fighters weren't just statues waiting to be felled by Jackson so he had to work his way to land the right punch. As he got older and his skills declined, he was less effective. McClellan undoubtedly showed a top chin plus he was a very big middleweight. Jackson's inability to put Tate away was a reflection of those declining skills. I think a couple of years earlier and Tate would have probably ended up staring at the ceiling as well.
Julian Jackson in his prime only lost to two guys. Gerald McClellan and Mike McCallum. There is no way some unskilled Gene Fullmer would stand a chance against him. But I know what you will say but Fullmer gave Sugar Ray Robinson trouble. First off Ray Robinson was a natural 140 pound guy. Second Robinson is one of the most overrated boxers in history. I would say the only person more overrated are Tyson Fury and Rocky Marciano. Robinson looked good against slow plodding tomato cans. I know what you will say, but some of these guy were really good fighters and Hall of Famers. You do realize that means nothing right? People go to the Hall of Fame for what they did in their era. That doesn't mean they would be good in other eras. Also you people love to use your historically speaking stuff when talking about older fighters. None of this has anything to do with actual head to head match ups. In way Jackson would destroy Fullmer then called out Robinson and knock him out too.
