The scorecards are up. 2 judges gave a 10-8 in the first round and 1 gave a 10-9. lazy scoring IMHO.

Old Hopkins is a legend, i had him winning it by 2rds.

Hats off to him, what a schooling and a comeback.

114-112 Hopkins. And that includes two 10-8 rounds for Pascal which I believe Hopkins was actually winning.

It was a robbery. Blatent robbery. Hopkins won at least 7 of the rounds clearly meaning that at best it's a 7-5 fight which would be 113-113 even if you scored the two knockdowns. Even then giving 5 rounds to Pascal is very, very kind.

Thoughts on the fight: Jean Pascal was awful. I don't even think Hopkins was that impressive. The two early knockdowns looked like they were mainly down to Bernard's lack of leg strength due to him being 46 years old. Pascal was slow, hardly landed any clean punches and was outboxed and outpunched in probably every single round.

I thought Pascal would win and I still believe if Jean Pascal was himself he'd have won convincingly. But for whatever reason he wasn't there and looked a little intimidated by Hopkins.

I can see it that way. Pascal landed harder punches when he did land.

I could see Hopkins getting it by a point, but not Pascal winning. I thought a draw was pretty fair - I gave Pascal 1,2,3,8 and 12 I think.

A 7-5 fight is a robbery? Calm down. It's entirely conceivable that a few of the rounds went to Pascal. Tarver, who's a pretty good judge, had Pascal ahead. Even Bernstein felt the result was reasonable. Only that bell-end Gray had a good old cry.

Huck-Lebedev was a robbery. Pascal-Hopkins was a close fight because of two early knockdowns and Pascal landing some good shots here and there. Hopkins did brilliantly but he has to accept that he got knocked down, legitimately, because he lent in. Just because the shot was on the ear didn't make it a foul.

Controversial Gaz, I disagree, though I don't really know the ins and outs in terms of the strict interpretation of the rules.

For me, and from what I remember in the past, a KD round is always a ten eight barring an exceptionally one sided round where the guy dominating goes down. I don't think either of those 10-8s last night fit that criteria.

I still had Hopkins winning anyway even if they were 10-8.

:deal Not surprised at all the way the fight went, beforer the Froch fight I had heard Pascal was the new RJJ, he's a limited fighter.

Agree, and Hopkins is just the guy who will figure you out if you offer no variety.

But then you've given 3 points for the knockdown. Hops was winning the first round but he didn't dominate it but then again it was only a flash knockdown rather than a heavy one.

10-9 for Pascal is a fair reflection on that round and I reckon when the "great and the good" of the boxing press get around to mulling the fight over that'll be one of the talking points.

I had it 114-112 and thought the first knock down a foul so shouldn`t of counted the second fair enough other than the knockdowns I gave pascal 4 and 8 though i`m far from an expert though on this occassion I seem to of got it pretty muchthe same as the rest on here.

    My scorecard:

    Pascal 10-8
    Hopkins
    Pascal 10-8
    Hopkins
    Even
    Hopkins
    Hopkins
    Even
    Hopkins
    Hopkins
    Hopkins
    Hopkins

    116-112 Hopkins

I don't think the fight was a robbery exactly. There were a few close rounds and the crowds reaction to Pascal's attempts could have been the difference for some of the judges. Also the commentary teams seemed to have it closer than I felt it was. I think this is a good example of a fight that is best watched in silence without the opinions of commentators and the influence of the crowd.

Also, I am not entirely against someone scoring this fight a draw (although I believe it is difficult to do so) but there is no way Pascal won this fight. Superb performance from Hopkins considering his age.

This could do with some clarification in my opinion.

If fighter a is winning a round and gets a knockdown he get's 1 point. I.e 10-9 turns to 10-8.

People giving three points for a fighter losing the round, 9-10 to 10-8, is madness in my mind.

I understand you giving two points 9-10 to 10-9 and agree its probably the best course of action but I'm not 100% convinced thats right either to be honest.

Example 2 is the one to read in this situation. I'm not saying this guy is the Oracle of scoring but his articles on the subject are very good and make sense to me.

I think you're being a little favourable to Hopkins there. The first was close, and Pascal knocked him down. 10-8. The third was Hopkins round, but he wasn't dominating and Pascal caught him clean. 10-8.

I think when you start adding complex criteria about when a 10-8 should be scored you're in trouble. That's how you get inconsistent scoring practises. I don't have a massive problem with Hopkins winning or a draw, but this wasn't a robbery.
