In my name, I would like to place a big thank to Jean Pascal and his team for taking this challenge. It was a real privilege to attend this historic event live, and despite the controversy that many including myself saw Hopkins winning. Few fighter on this planet would want to face Hopkins in defense option and despite the controversy, VERY few Boxer have done as well as Pascal in boxing history against Hopkins. The story is written my friends, although the faces of the team of Pascal after the fight was sad. This gave us a performance. Pascal is part of the cream and I'm glad that is a Quebecois. Now let's rematch!!
Thank You Jean Pascal, for playing the role of a well groomed student and getting schooled all night by your tenured professor. you asked him some great questions, but he answered them in great depth and detail, so much so that you weren't even able to get all the notes down.
He went to school I agree but it was some fight!! For the first time of my life, I saw a vulnerable Hopkins in the exchange though. I really think Pascal can hurt Hopkins. Let's see the rematch
Simple Pascal wins if he is able to sustain any kind of serious workrate for more than 6 rounds. Pressure is what would beat Hopkins. it showed when Pascal did have success was when Hopkins was shooting out with him. Pascal didnt do enough of that, and Hopkins had the time and space to think his way through and begin to time Pascal. Infact Hopkins didn't like it at all when Pascal was in in face and throwing down with him. Need a bit more the Pascal that fought Froch, a bit more intensity, cos Hopkins definitely showed vulnerablities due to his worsoning reflexes, and of course at 45 the mind may know what to do, but can the body keep up? But Pascal can definitely win a rematch, with a better strategy.
Yah you saw a 46 year old man get vulnerable finally If this was the B-Hop of 1998-2001, Pascal would've been destroyed and you know this man
Damn.... As much as I like Pascal, B-Hop knows now how to exploit Pascal flaws. Pascal will always be Pascal IMO, his emotions will come on top on fight night. A rematch will not be good for the rest of Pascal career.....The Executioner will execute a 12 rounds unanimous decision this time I think.
Pascal will call him out in 2 years, when Hops is older (As if he isn't already) and Hops will still probably school him.
Truth is Pascal gave Hopkins a route back in to the fight. His lack of Stamina, and ability to sustain any kind of workrate gave Hopkins a path way back. I think Pascal needed to just get inside and work B-hop over. Not sure what his corner were telling him between rounds but they should have been telling him to get in and let the hands go, cos the speed and the power was getting to B-hop.
I agree, Hopkins won't like to see the replay. It's the first time to me someone hit clean and hard the legend in the inside. Hopkins controlled the pace but for the first time of his career, his opponent landed the cleaner shot. This fight was very tough to score and close as ****. It's like Calzague/Hopkins I scored Hopkins cause he was cleaner but Calzague had a better workrate, I have no problem with people who scored Calzague winner. Now now we see how Hopkins is a true legend in the ring but I have to say, I thought Hopkins will shooled Pascal in the inside but it diodn't happen. Pascal is getting one of the better in the inside in the world. Final world, this fight was: EPIC
I would also like to thank Jean Pascal for giving us another great fight and always fighting the best, and always striving to be the best even though it's not easy.
Hopkins could have thank Quebec city and Pascal team to giving him an opportunity to chase history. Hopkins is a legend, but the legend has no manners at all. Hopkins can't pull 8000 fans in U.S. We were over 16 000 and the show was crazy... Hopkins can say what he wants, but at the end he was respecting Pascal alot in the ring, it's the first time I see him unconfortable in the inside. Where usually it's his desk...
And he was 46 years old past his prime fighting a young/faster/stronger in Pascal on his own backyard. What does that tell you? Exactly
So because he's fighting in Quebec and he's old as ****, he as right to say everthing? I'm happy, I used to work in U.S. cause basing on your comments, I would have tend to say everyone in the south as no manner as well. But it's ain't the case, cause most of people in U.S. are cool. Hopkins crew had good reason to ask a rematch but not that way. Last time I check, it was an optionel defense and Hopkins made almost 2 millions yesterday.
