Coming from a huge pascal fan.

There was this one guy on ESB who repeatedly said; "Write Hopkins off at your own peril, and DO NOT use his last two fights as evidence that he's shot!":yep

 

I agree completely with you except I dont put him above pacquiao.
But last night I was very impressed with hopkins, one of teh best comebacks of redent years from a almsot 46 year old man having pascal running in his hometown, he definitely deserved the win. great technical fighter.

 

I didn't write him off, but damn, I sure wasn't expecting that.

To tell the truth, I'm enjoying boxing again now that I've quit trying to predict everything. College football on the other hand... let's just say the Sugar Bowl is going to closely resemble the Pavlik-Taylor fights.

 

Speaking of Pavlik, I think my boy's resume improved this week end. KP demolished a peak Zuniga at Zuniga's best weight. An old, overweight, ring worn, Zuniga went 12 with Cloud over 5 years later.

People constantly critisize KP for losing to "an old man," but that old man just beat the best LHW in the world over 2 years later!

Anyway, great performance for The Old Man, and nice to see you on the board.

 

I'm a fan of both and have been for awhile though I've been a Hopkins fan longer and a bigger fan to him. I was rooting for him mostly but there's nothing to be ashamed of as far as his performance. He became one of my 3 fav fighters on Saturday tied with Mosley & Hagler.

 

Pascal needs to quit lifting all of those weights and get someone on his team that knows something about conditioning.

The guy gasses in every fight.

Maybe he should find a conditioning coach that isn't also Olanier Solis' coach.

 

Pascal is the definition of "not special" and finally people are realizing this.

 

I have to eat my own crow, totally expecting Bernard would stink out the joint with one of his Foul-fests. The guy just took apart a man 20 YEARS his junior and did it in pretty convincing fashion. And he didn't even have to fake low blows to do so.

 

I had it a draw but a win by hops by a point or two would have also been fair. Pascal is a walking dead man. The next good fighter he fights takes his title

 

I agree. In his 40's he is fighting prime fighters and beating them, but Pac is looking to fight 40 year olds instead. atsch Bernard is the best of this generation, his combination of skills, smarts, and longevity is unmatched. A real fighter.

 

I learned my "Hopkins lesson" back with the Calzaghe and Pavlik fights. Bernard looked like **** against Calzaghe, and I thought "that's it, father time has caught BHop by the nuts, and won't let go." Pavlik was knocking out everything that got in front of him, and then took a UD over Jermain, something BHop could not do in two tries. I thought there was no way that version of KP would lose to a "shot" Hopkins.

Well, I feel for you guys who are eating your crow today, but at some point you simply must learn your own "Hopkins lesson." When they bring this old ****er to the ring in a wheel chair, bet against him. Until then, keep your money!
