Jean Pascal is the epitome of this feeble era of boxing.

All we ever read is guys saying "I'm sick of the old fighter bias", "Kelly Pavlik would knock Ray Robinson out cold", "modern training methods, modern training methods", blah blah blah... :dead

And last night we seen yet another perfect example of how weak boxing is right now.

Jean Pascal was in many people on this forum's top 10 p4p. He is a 27 year old fighter who gassed after a few rounds against a 45 year old man who hasn't stopped anyone since 2004 and has suffered from clear stamina problems in previous fights due to his age.

Sorry punks, but drinking Gatorade and having a six-pack does not come anywhere close to making you a great boxer. :nono

70s and early 80s light-heavys like Foster, Galindez, Yaqui Lopez, Rossman, Conteh, Qawi, Matthew Saad, Eddie Mustafa, Marvin Johnson and Michael Spinks would all have beat the living **** out of a hypejob like Pascal within a few rounds.

    :deal

Ok, who said Kelly Pavlik would of knocked out Sugar Ray Robinson, please tell me. Or did you just add that in for dramatic effect ?

OK, I made that part up as an example, but it's the equivalent of something I HAVE heard said on this forum - Jose Luis Castillo would've beaten prime lightweight Roberto Duran!

There's no shame in losing to Bhop even it's the 45yo version of him, as he looked extremely sharp yesterday.

There are tons of ATG 160-175 fighters who'd receive a schooling if they ever fought him via a time machine so losing to Bhop doesn't say much about the era.

your spot on about pascal, you only have to look at his defeat to carl froch to understand that he is a b-level plodder :deal

yet suddenly, because he beat a fraudulent american hypejob like chad dawson, people were over-rating pascal massively. its a testament to how far hopkins has deteriated that he can only scrape a draw with a b-level plodder like pascal :deal

Jean Pascal is not a hype job. He stepped into the jaws of the lion and came out on top when nobody gave him a chance. His performance the other night was forgetable, but I can't think of too many fighters who've managed to look good against Popkins.

Addie, I like you, and I respect you opinion and I mean that with all due respect. That being said, Jean Pascal ****ing sucks, I can't wrap my mind around what would make you believe that he is a "Championship" level fighter and/or anything better than like a Edison Miranda type guy.

You're venting right now and that's fine. Pascal was never in the p4p contention in ANY forum. And no one has said Pavlik would KO SRR.

To deny that today's training methods have an amazing effect on your boxing performance is ignorant. Would you say that LHW from the 80's were virtually stronger and better than fighters from the 60's? Im sure in about another 20 years of so people will mention Pascal and Dawson as cream of the crop...it's just nostalgic pampering. Get over it.

Hopkins should've kept his guard up during the 3rd...that was the KD that costed him the fight.

Jean Pascal has toppled good fighters in the past, he's toppled great fighters in the past, the worst performance of his career is not the difference.
