What's with these british boxers? They all want to quit while ahead and are afraid to go on in fear of damaging their so-called legacy. This is why Hamed should not be allowed in the HoF.

to be fair, by that time he could have had a fair few more fights, which isn't too bad. I think Khan, unlike Haye, won't leave until he's built a solid legacy...

Amir says he wants to retire by the age of 28 but thats only if he achieves his goals. If he fights Alexander or Bradley next year and then potentially move up to 147. 3 fights a year in 4 years equals a total of 36 fights which ain't ridiculously low considering Floyd has 41 fights at the age of almost 34. Saying that, I don't think he'l retire by 28. It's like when Naseem used to say he wants to move up several divisions in his early twenties but then when the time came he was still in the saem weight class.

I seriously doubt that Hamed gives a **** about the HOF.

I don't understand it either... In the current era the "prime age" (physicly and finacially) of boxers is somewhere between 30 and 33, so a bit strange if they quit before their prime has even started.

I can understand the "I won't end up like Roy, Evander, Ali angle", but they are a long, long way away from that.
I even believe quitting early is more dangerous in this case, because the chance of a "comeback" at a later age is a lot bigger.

Its because guys like Khan and Haye know that sooner or later they will be caugh with a single punch and then its game over. They know their chin isn't worth jacksh** and their defense isn't good enough to evade all punches.

They both want to get out before the inevitable happens.

It's obvious that neither guys have a lot of passion for the sport nor are they warriors at heart. They want to get in, make money with easy fights and get out before the going gets tough.

Some people like the art of boxing, and the big money it can pour into their bank accounts.

But at the same time, they are not fans of hurting other people and receiving heavy, painful punches into their 30's.

    Yet still be good boxers.

Boxing wont ever allow him to retire atleast before 32
By the time he is 28, his opinion will change aswell, no way will any ATG fighter retire at that age, he'll still have so much more to prove at that age, so its really nothing to make a big deal out of tbh !

They are the smart guys. Get out with enough money in the bank never to need to work again having achiveved their goal of becoming a world champion (or 2 weight world champion in Haye's case).
