What makes it interesting for me is that Frank Warren isn't stupid, he would only put Kell Brook in against Amir Khan if he knew for a fact he had a good chance of winning.
I dunno if it's a waste of time. I'm getting pretty sick of top domestic fights not happening because such and such fighter either doesn't deserve it or the other boxer is apparently beyond them now. Ricky Hatton v Junior Witter: "Ricky Hatton doesn't like him.. he's just trying to make a lickle bit of money off of Ricky Hatton" - Ricky Hatton before defending his prestigious WBU title a couple more times Amir Khan v John Murray: "British champion John Murray hasn't achieved anything near beating Willie Limond and Michael Gomez" - Amir Khan before defending some WBO Intercontinental piece of garbage against Martin Kristjansen Bernard Dunne v Rendall Munroe: Different promoters stopped this fight from happening. Both boxers would have taken it and it would have been a massive fight benefiting both. Instead politics couldn't be sorted out and both ended up losing title fights and Dunne retired. Instead of plenty other great potential fights like the above we've had to settle to crap like Haye v Harrison. I'm sick of our boxers avoiding the domestic scene and taking on foreign bums instead. Macklin and Barker should have fought each other at least a year ago now and we're now seeing both of their careers stagnate because they won't fight each other. I'm not a fan of his (especially after recent news about him), but Anthony Small should have got his fight with Ryan Rhodes the other year. But noooo Rhodes thought it'd be a good idea to avoid all potentially difficult fights and just go on holiday instead. I don't really like criticising boxers because it is a tough sport but some of this is borderline pathetic and should be unforgivable by tv networks, promoters and fans alike. Poxy weight divisions aside, Amir Khan and Kell Brook are pretty much the same size and are at similar stages of their careers (albeit Khan has had 3 or 4 decent world level fights now). This is the sort of fight that should be happening. I'm warming to the idea of this and hope Warren has actually put forward a good offer and Sky are trying to get this to happen.
Warren needs to get over Khan leaving him and stop making these stupid offers, so he wants Khan a 140 Champion to move up a weight to face a unknown fighter who has beaten a set of bums that really makes sense. Khan has moved on to big and better things, Warren needs to let it go.
This is it. Brook is running out of guys fast. Personally I think he (Kell) should fight either Matty Hatton for the European strap or go for Saul Alverez ( who I think has moved up to 154) If Brook was to win against either, it would certainly give his resume a boost (yes i no hatton is **** but he is the European Champ at least)
This is only for Frank to get his fighter's name out there more by attaching it to Khan. Don't know why people are taking this seriously. Khan move up in weight for Brook right now? Not happening.
I find it hard to beleive that Mitchell was not training for the biggest fight of his life. Katsidis is in another class level compared to Mitchell
