Sorry guys, I've currently no time to translate the article (written in German). Perhaps google translator gets the job done... http://www.n-tv.de/sport/Abrahams-Box-Trainer-verzweifelt-article2196376.html To sum it up: Wegner says that AA is not the same guy he used to be. AA believes to have done everything right, but blames his team for the outcome of his last two fights. Wegner says further that he has lost influence on Abraham and that both haven't talked with each other about the Froch fight. Wegner questions whether it makes sense to continue to coach Abraham.
AA lost the hunger after he avanged the Miranda-situation. One thing that Froch boxed very well not letting AA open up with combinations, but at no point you could feel he's gonna take chances and see if he can get into the fight with a different approach. You'd expect some change after 6 rounds of no success but Abraham was content to go 12. From someone who so passionatly fought back with a terribly broken jaw, that's just the most disappointing sight possible. He's a LOT better than he showed lately but unless some kind of mental change happens it's all be the past.
You dont understand how much the size difference affected the fight. Abraham did everything he could have done in that fight within his arsenal, he just cant be a huge super middle like Froch with a long jab. Froch fought a perfect fight also.
Dirrell mentally ****ed AA's mind up and Froch stomped on it. AA is done, and he finally knows he isn't that good. He was believing his own hype before Dirrell showed him what it feels like for a Legit SMW to land consistantly on his face with powershots. AA had no plan for that fight and felt that froch's defense wasn't like Dirrells so he came in with no plan for that either. AA is done if he doesn't find some head movement and effective aggression fast. IMO he's a spoiled little ***** whose true colors took a long time to come to light. You know a man much more when he loses than when he wins.
Abraham is just out of his league at 168, Direlll beat him on styles and was close on getting stopped by abraham before the dq and froch just fought very smart and gave Abraham no chance. Only thing I blame him for is not going all out in the later rounds. He has a punchers chance against inside fighting ward. after that he will move back to 160, there you got pirog and martinez who will beat him and sturm who will not fight him and even if he did sturm would get the decision if abraham doesnt knock him out. He is kind of stuck at the moment, maybe him and williams or pavlik can match up eventually.
Headmovement and a gameplan to use it would have done alot. Team AA are poor strategist. Froch is not hard to hit. AA was just a clottey like ***** in this fight. Throwing those bummish, ungrounded, disgrace to boxing type flurries when froch saw everything coming was just a sad sight. He had to counter froch to catch him but he was too scared. So AA tries those flurries and froch ends up looking like Mayweather in there dodging that bum stuff. AA really was believing he was a king. Glad to see his punk ass get humbled in such a manner his last 2 fights. He didn't know what to do after Dirrell and he still doesn't know what to do. It's a dam shame.
thats german style for you, gameplan wasjust get close enough or wait for froch to do something clumsy then hit him on the chin.
You have to remember Abraham has a big Armenian family and entourage. They keep telling him stuff and that probably twisted his mind. He probably thought he is unbeatable and doesn't have to work out anymore. I read stories how he bough an airplane and is involved in different family business ventures. He bought all his family members different businesses. From oriental rug dealerships to restaurants. Probably takes up a lot of his time.
I've to agree that Froch had the perfect game plan and did a very good job. However, Abraham dealt with tall fighters in the past (of course not with fighters of Froch's caliber). I think Big Bone is right. AA has lost his hunger. He has earned a lot of money and doesn't want to take risks. The "old" Abraham would've tried to knock Froch out at least. This is something which he obviously didn't go after with all means. He just wanted to survive the 12 rounds.
I thought it was pretty clear in the Froch fight that he'd lost his hunger. The imitation of AA that Froch was doing on media day was so startlingly accurate, you woulda thought this man was Nostradamus. He made zero adjustments and just did the same thing over 12 rounds, which as someone already pointed out, made Froch look like Mayweather. Abraham needs to fix up, and quickly if he wants to be around for a few more years. At this point I don't even know if changing trainers would help him.
AA-Sturm in Berlin for AA's last hooray... if he can make the weight. Hope Sturm dies of an uppercut to the chin, snapping his neck.
After all the endless pages of debate, it turns out that your boy is a *****, and mine can't stay sober. Oh well, boxers are like buses. If ya miss one, another one will be along in a few minutes.
Ulli "The Red Block Trainer" Wegner need's to retire. All of his fighters are looking like utter CRAP lately. Abraham, Sylvester, Huck, Murat etc. He should either retire or get himself one of those amazing Gabriel Sarmiento sunglasses.. This content is protected
