All that equals Hopkins won the fight as I scored it, so what's your point? You'll find I lose interest quickly in minutiae, have a good one.
Hate those niggling wee injuries I heard Pascal on OtG radio last night, very classy guy. When asked if the Hopkins fight would change him for the worse, he seemed determined to learn from it, which is a very good thing IMO. Also he wants a B-HOP rematch rather than Dawson II.
I didnt think he'd want the B-Hop rematch, because of the interview in the ring after the fight, he said he would do it then seemed to want to wriggle out of it but the interview guy wouldn't let him off the hook. Either fight is good for me though, Hopkins deserves the rematch on the strength of his performance and the fight being a draw, whereas Dawson lost. So yeah, that's good news.
Hes contractually obligated to give Dawson the next fight. Whether Dawson agrees to step aside is another question.
It doesn't make sense for Dawson to step aside, if he can beat Pascal he may get a BHOPs fight, I don't see Nard risking a Dawson after rematching Pascal fight with little to gain. Bascially if they want Dawson to step aside they'll have to pay him handsomely I want to see Hopkins in another big fight soon, he looked good on Saturday, I wouldn't rule him out beating Haye
I don´t know. Haye is nothing special but he is bigger, punches a lot harder and actually is a bit faster. At this stage I think this is too much.
Dawson, I still feel is the best lightheavy of all today. He'd avange himself vs Pascal in a rematch and would banish Hopkins. It'll happen yet.
He also gets pretty tired after 4 rounds, telegraphs his punches and has a low guard making him easier to punch, and his footwork is pretty basic. But yes faster and a very explosive puncher, in bursts though as he can't maintain his power for a round. Hopkins said he wanted this fight before so he may have seen something in Haye to exploit
Seeing something to exploit and beeing able to do so are two different things. I don´t think Hopkins has the age to do so.
I'd just love to see him do it and if there's a fighter who could overcome a size/speed disadvantage is BHOPs
I'm glad Hopkins had such a good showing, but let's be honest. He hasn't been consistent in these performances. If he shows up as the 46 year old man he is, Haye would slaughter him. At his best, I think Haye still is too much for him now, or ever. Haye doesn't do much well, but he does punch hard and fast, a combination that can overwhelm all the cuteness in the world.
