not yet he isn't. he needs to fight a gatekeeper first. lets see him against brinkley or andrade or miranda. or maybe even green.

they were close to reid and typsko(sp.) but he was soundly beten by froch 4 years ago. he has been down many times in his career and it was a huge upset when he won the european belt.

lets see him take on a contender beofre we call him top 10 material.

Come on, I didn't say Magee was BETTER than them. I said there aren't a plethora of better fighters that are available for March 19th. Seriously man, with nothing in the news reporting substantiate progress with either of them 3, you really think they'd be willing to fight Bute in March? Not even 3 months from now??

That's what I mean by unavailable.

Catchweight, maybe but not above 170 IMO... I'd be surprised to see Bute fight a LHW, unless SHO pushes for BHop to come down to 170 before his rematch with Pascal, and while Pascal-Dawson II materializes itself.

Outside the S6, the injured and Bute, the SMWs are just weak in comparison. Magee might be amongst the best of them, really sad to say.

You know I had to search for SMW "Jermaine"s for a sec here...

    ...talking about a shotter-than-shot-after-being-shot Taylor @ 168?

    I don't buy it. Taylor's done.

That doesn't stop him taking a fight at 175lbs. It just means he wouldn't add any extra muscle, he would be his normal weight in the ring, he just wouldn't cut to 168 for the weigh in.

Possibly sacrificing handspeed...? For whatever reason, his trainer seems to think once Bute moves up, he'll "have to stay" at that weight.

Ok, and your just defending your guy b/c everyone is taking shots at him. I can understand that. I'm not mad at this fight. It is a stay busy fight. It just shouldn't be on Showtime. Horrible way for Showtime to start off their 2011 in terms of competitive match ups.

    Yep. :D

The only upside of this card is the St-Juste / Miranda war. Otherwise Showtime doesn't have much meat to feed us.

I understand that and it's a very legit reason. Forget all that weight hopping. They have business to take care of at 168 and that's where they plan to do, so that's where they will stay. Too many fighters put themselves at a disadvantage playing around with their fitness.

Huge upset or not,he won the european title by absolutely hammering Mads Larsen. He beat the day lights out of him.
Also I wouldnt say he was "soundly" beaten by Froch. He was stopped but the cards were very close at the time of the stoppage in the 11th round.

Rubbish fight but if Stieglitz and Sartison are not available then the reality is that realistically there isn't much better out there, Super Middleweight is stacked at the top end and there are some great prospects but it is very thin when it comes to decent contenders unfortunately and that is why we are stuck with this fight.

Hopefully they stick a decent co-feature with it (I heard Molitor-Ndlovu which isn't great) but I would prefer he stayed busy then not fight at all.

Seriously though who could they get that is better then Magee and don't bring up Kessler or Dirrell that's obviously not feasible right now and anywhere who knows anything knows that.
