    Pascal beat dawson straight up, you cant take it away from him, b-hop just schooled him says more about hopkins then it does about pascal, I actually think pascal could beat dawson again I dont think he will but its possible.
    Your whole argument is biased anyway like old fighters are gods that cant be beaten
    of cours pavlik beatng robinson is ridiculous but mayweather beating duran at 147 or pacquiao beating armstrong or vitali klitschko beating dempsey marciano and frazier are all valid claims and not stupid at all. You can have discussions about it but it isnt 100% out of the question.

    Hopkins doesn't have the power or the energy levels to force a high-intensity fight that would drain the stamina from a 27 year old fighter, yet Pascal seemed to gas and mentally check out during the fight. Therefore, for me Pascal is worthy of criticism, not Hopkins.

    Would Hopkins have got torn up in the 70s/80s lightheavy division? Yup. Relevance? None. Because Hopkins did not spend his prime as a lightheavy, and he is not one of the new breed of young champion. Pascal is at his peak as a lightheavy, and he is one of the new breed of young champion. That's why I speak of him right now with regard to a comparative golden age of prime, light-heavyweight champions.

    This isn't rocket science. It's a thread concerning the implications of one fighter's performance.

    I'm not taking Pascal's win over Dawson away from him, I'm saying he wasn't impressive in that fight, and he wasn't, IMO.

    Old fighters were not gods who couldn't be beaten, that's dumb, but the standard was a lot higher in bygone eras, such as the 70s/80s lhw scene. Of course some fighters from today (Pac, B-Hop, Floyd) could compete with the best of past generations, but look at how many top class lhw's I listed from that era. Do we have the same depth in this century? No chance.

    My Girlfriend who hardly ever watches fights saw that fight with me. She told me the "Too bad they stopped the fight b/c I think the tall guy was about to knock the other guy out."

    Once Dawson snapped out of his ****ing trance, it was patently obvious who the better fighter was. Bad Chad will torch Pascal in a rematch, easy.

    Oh no he wouldn't. Dawson had Pascal seriously hurt and frozen from an uppercut, what did he do after it?, take a few seconds off. Dawson just doesn't follow up, he has a guy hurt and stands there puts on weird ass alien-like faces. He just doesn't have killer instinct and never will, that's not something they can train him to have. I can openly admit that Dawson is someone I really hate to watch.

    Well we will never know. Point is a lot of people who saw that fight, even non boxing fans "felt" as if Dawson had a chance of turning it around.

    Exactly. Dawson completely lacks a fighters mentality in terms of adjustments and overall combative attitude. He has the ability, and arguably the skill, but he will never ever have the mindset necessary to succeed.

    He could prove me wrong... But probably not.

    exactly. i'm amazed at how many people on esb believe that fighters of past generations are somehow stronger, faster, and better all around than today's fighters. there's no ****ing way. every fighter of past generations would be better if they were around now instead.

    dawson had every opportunity to KO pascal in their fight, but didn't he end up with some kind of shoulder injury halfway through the fight?

    while i was watching the fight i started wondering what was going on cause dawson just wasn't throwing and really just didn't look right.
