Totally get what you're saying. Unfortunately time, and the S6 have played against Bute so far. The summer 2011 SMW clash he'll be involved in should be a good one.

...only for Bute not to get any credit whatsoever if he beats him. Brilliant.

Only if Bute annihilates him in 5 or something. Regardless. That big name needs a tune-up fight, guy hasn't fought in over a year. Get real.

Pftt... only better available options are Stieglitz, Glen Johnson, and maybe Sakio Bika.

Take a look at that. There's a letter sent to Jean Bedard form Ian Edery about possible oponnents for Bute in March 2011.

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/45704342/La-telecopie-envoyee-a-Jean-Bedard

    Johnson: unavailable S6
    Ward:unavailable S6
    Abraham: unavailable S6
    Froch: unavailable S6

Kessler: Unavailable but hope to see him fight Bute for his 2nd fight of the contract
    Dawson: Unavailable at 168
    Taylor: Unavailable
Bika: Did not do enough against Ward but could be available in March. Bute already beat him in 2007 with an easy win.

Sartison: Wanted more money. Iboxe offered him more money but Sartison's team changed their plans and will fight in January for Universum. Also had negociations with Magee.
Magee: Available but big negociations with Sartison for WBA title fight (at that moment)
Green: Has been KO'ed by Johnson so he's unavailable. Not in IBF tp 15.
Cloud: Unavailable at 168 and will fight Zuniga in December.
Stieglitz: Doesn't wanna hear anthing about Bute. They offered him 5 times a fight. Had a lot of trouble with Ornelas and doesn't wanna fight outside Germany.
    Dirrell: Still injured
    Pavlik: D-tox
    Mendy: Didn't look at him.

''So, Magee ,Bika and Mendy could be the only 3 available for a fight with Bute. ''

That's a rough translation but I think it resumes the situation.

Hopefully he does not fight Kessler at this point, Kessler's eye is too messed up.

Johnson isn't. Bika already fought Bute. Stieg is scared.

Maybe sometime in the summer. Hopefully Kessler comes out and says he's at 100%.

I think it would be better against a healthy Dirrell.

Well I'm just going by the fact that Mendy will be Bute's mandatory and there literally is no one else for him to face unless Kessler or Dirrell make a comeback which is always a possibility.

Mendy hasn't fought since July, right? Maybe the IBF will pull some BS about Bika getting DQ'ed and sanction an eliminator a bit before or after Bute-Magee... Mendy would face a big name for THEIR tune-up fight, whether it'd be Kessler, Dirrell or even Pavlik (!). Total mismatch, Mendy is booted off the picture, and we have a big summer fight for Bute's 2011 mandatory defense.

    :yep

Fingers crossed, Mendy is worse than Magee. The IBF Rankings really are horrific. On the plus side the undercard looks decent and if St Juste beats Miranda then he can put his hat into the mix at 168.

If St-Juste TKO5-6 Miranda, maybe Stieglitz won't object to a fight with him for a good payroll (Bute's summer card in Mtl). St-Juste isn't exactly slick, and Miranda's mobility and footwork are notches below Stieg's.

St-Juste with a puncher's chance. Go Renan. :bbb
