he, thanks for your thoughts..I would love to see it. I tried ,and failed to get the footage you post. I'm not good at retrieving that stuff. Just learned a smattering of the computer ahort time ago.. P.S. Many years ago I watched This Is Your Life ,with Ralph Edwards the host. The subject was Jack Dempsey, and the surprise guests were Firpo, Willard etc. My dad and I LOVED IT. I also watched This Is Your Life with guest MICKEY WALKER. Great nostalgic stuff. These were my dad's contemporaries, and he had tears in his eyes watching these programs in the 1950s. I have tried to see them again, but failed, sad to say . Hope, before i shuffle off this mortal coil, to be lucky and watch them again. Thanks he:good...
Burt, it is really simply and user friendly .. go to the site by clicking on my link Go to the telvision archive section and click it. You have to register and it is simple ... an email address and a password and you have immediate access ... your computer might not have the plug in program required and if that is the case go to someone's that may be newer. I had that issue on one computer ... you will love the two clips ... they are long and offer the most talking footage of Dempsey that I ever saw ... he actually gets into a boxing ring in 1951 with Joe Louis and the two talk about how they would have fought each other ... just terrific stuff ... if I could post it for you I would ... let me call my IT guy and see ..
Haven't had time to check it out yet but it is the museum of broadcast so I'm thinking there may be quite a bit ..

I havent had time to register and view this yet, but it certainly sounds like awesome footage. I cant believe there are not more comments about it on this thread to be honest.
The reality is that far too many here like to squark about things they know nothing about then actually study the history of the sport .. look at the pathetic turn out for the posting of a majority historical breakthrough like the Langford - Jeanette footage ...
Cool footage of Louis and Dempsey......... I poked around a little bit and found an ABC Wide World of Sports episode covering Clay - Liston I. Cosell interviewed SRR about the new champ Clay. Jim McKay talked to a photographer about some still shots he took of the fight, and then McKay did in studio play by play of the actual fight. There was a second commentator but I haven't had the time to figure out who it was. I've seen better footage of this fight, but the show would surely give a good perspective of the magnitude of this upset at the time.
