So you don't disagree that there is little between their best wins?

Whitaker was shot to pieces if he wasn't he would have schooled the limited Trinidad senseless. Trinidad could fight, he couldn't box. And a 43yo Hopkins is better than any Winky Wright, if you see past your hatred of Calzaghe and myself you'd agree. Like I say, not even a massive Joe C fan

Eubank and Vargas? How are they equatable? Hector Camacho is more a fitting equivalent for Eubank. Not in terms of styles of course, but in terms of being aged, decent fighters. Sure, Camacho had received a terrible schooling from Chavez two years earlier, but as if Eubank wouldn't if he had a Julio Cesar Chavez in front of him instead of some euro-trash.

Jones and Whitaker? I mean, Pea was gone but Roy should have had a court-ordered injunction placed against him to stop him getting in the ring and disgracing himself by this stage. That's about as meaningful a win as Tito's over Freddie Pendleton.

Also, Tito has the following decent wins which you haven't listed:

    David Reid
    Ricardo Mayorga
    Jake Rodriguez

A 43 year old Hopkins was barely better than a past it, bloated Winky Wright, so thats a no.

    Tito's greater than Calzaghe, clearly.

Oscar is a great fighter who always came up a little short against any of the very best fighters out there. Based on that comparing Tito (as great as he may be) to a fighter who didn't even seem capable of ever being defeated is a little silly.

Lets open our eyes a little and start comparing Calzaghe to Ray Robinson, comparing him favourably to Robinson. Do the guy a little justice.

I like Calzaghe's resume over Ray's too, on top of the obvious edge in ability for Joe. I think it's better if we compare Calzaghe to the real pantheon of greats: Sven Ottke, Terry Marsh and Samson Dutchboy Gym.

Jake Lamotta had a jab and nothing besides that jab, his cross was none existant. One handed fighter. Limited.

Robinson had off-days against against LaMotta and lost.

If Calzaghe had an off day against LaMotta, was ill and broke is left hand and had to right with only his right. Joe wins on that off-day, he maybe loses one round, maybe 2 maybe none against a fighter like LaMotta.

Calzaghe will always compare well against a fighter like Robinson, as great he was. Robbo was ahead of his time, but not ahead of Calzaghe's time.

Only Joe Calzaghe was ahead of Calzaghe's time.

I voted for Tito as I feel he had better accomplishments and better opposition, but some of what PowerPuncher is saying is true. Trinidad's WW opposition leading up to 1999 wasn't very good. He had a nice 1994 in defeating undefeated (though fairly untested) contenders Carr & Campas, and also a win over a Camacho who was all too happy to just last the full 12, but his career stalled in the next 4 years. I don't really blame Tito for this, but it is what it is. Trinidad was suing Don King back in 1995 in order to get bigger fights, namely Whitaker. When he didn't get that fight, he tried to move up to 154 to get a fight with Norris. When a fight with Norris did not materialize, Tito went back to 147 to get the big fights. The Quartey fight fell apart because Ike got sued by his management for breaching contract. So he ended up fighting an aging Whitaker (who also had a Quartey fight scraped, due to Pea's drug use) and later DLH that year.
