    Roger Mayweather...............Virgil Hill
    Jose Luis Ramirez.................Mike McCallum
    Greg Haugen.......................Reggie Johnson

    Achievements in World Titles won

    JCC: 3 weight world champion

    RJJ: 4 weight world champion

Just based on a resume Chavez's best 5 wins as I see them-

    1. Meldrick Taylor- Taylor was favorite in fight. Goes with out saying a awesome fighter ranked in the p4p ranking after a rare ko loss for Buddy Mckirt. Took his undefeated record and this is really a case of a boxer having his futue beaten out of him.

    2. Edwin Rosario- favorite in the fight. World champ and future world champ once again. While never reached potential was a devastating puncher and goes up well aganst all but a few lightweights H2H. Biggest puncher Chavez faced.

3- Jose Louis Ramirez- cracking fighter few years removed from beating Rosario. Before that lost a ultra close decision to the ATG Arguello. Unfortuantly remembered for bs win against Sweet Pea and getting dominated in rematch. Underrated tough *******.

4-Hector Camacho- Only lost once. Very good fighter in and around prime are. Unfortuantly the negative Camacho, not the early exciting one. Didn't achieve much on world scene after but had serious world level skills.

5- Mario Martinez- Martinez favorite in fight. Up and coming prospect, more touted than Chavez. Extremely close fights later on with Azumah Nelson and gave Fenech and R. Mayweather hell (what I've heard not seen)

Its so hard to label these wins unfortuantly. RJJ's best 5 are better than these. But the depth of the resume goes to Chavez for me. Fighters like
    R.Mayweather
    Ruben Castillo
    Miguel Angel Gonzalez
    Giovanni Parisi
    Juan Laporte
    Rocky Lockridge
Frankie Randall (bs win, why I left out of top 5)
    Giovanni Parisi
    Greg Haugen
    Terrance Ali
    Sammy Fuentes
Tony Lopez (not best version but his performance was admirable)

These guys to me are a noticable step up from the Julio Gonzalez, Clinton Woods etc. I mean these guys were proven commodoties at the time (some past there best admittingly). JCC beat guys when they were more highly regarded. Just my 2 cents on his resume, I know a decent amount about his career. This does not delve into his awesome fighting style, just a look at his resume. Challengers were consistently in the top 10 of good solid divisions. He very rarely looked out of sorts in destoying them. Loads of future and past world champs in his resume just no Toney's etc. Its a funny thing but its hard to rate his resume due to its sheer mass and few top, top operators. Depends on what you prefer I suppose.

Nice post but this is were it gets dodgy. Chavez's wins over past champs in Lopez, Limon and Gamache (possibly I'm dont know to much bout him) were very faded. Same with RJJs wins over Mccallum, Trinidad, Lacy etc

  7. whitaker got robbed every knows that that and the taylor fight are don king rig jobs at their finest and roy cleaned out every division and he holds the record for most belts every held at once in a division and hes not a serial ducker when theirs nobody who could shine his shoes in the division so he moved up in weight and took over the lightheavy division ur probably a calzaghe fan

can we get him to play with finger paints and Crayolas?

He really pushes the obnoxious envelope. He takes obnoxious to places nobody thought was possible.

Good post, except Taylor having his future "beaten out of him". That is greatly exaggerated, thanks in no small part to HBO's Legendary Myths.

I'm not really into rating fighters myself but Chavez gets too much flack. He basically beat a who's who of the guys from 130-140 in the 80s and early 90s. He was an extremely skilled pressure fighter who knew how to cut off the ring. Terrific in his combinations which he placed well to both body and head, solid upper body movement, and a great chin when he did get caught.

Ok I agree I probably did exagrerate. I've seen his fights after JCC against him again, Esapano, Taylor and two others. While he still had plenty of skills there seemed something missing. I was probably more influenced by how his speaking changed significantly seemingly only 1 year after the fight.

Give me a break. David Haye just beat a 38 year old John Ruiz and enough people on this forum were making it out to be a big freaking deal. Roy Jones fought him 7 years ago coming up in weight, and clowned him. Yes, he was HW champion of the world.

No. He wasn't. Lennox Lewis was the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

John Ruiz was the Heavyweight Champion of the WBA.

A great win for Roy, but let's just get things clear.

Here is a classic example of the standard operating procedure here on the General Forum:

    A question is asked...

Now the first thing that happens is the responses start rolling in from those little internet geeks who have zero boxing knowledge and are only on here to use emoticons, have arguments, and generally be trolls and dent the credibility of this website...

And then they do what they do best, bore the ****ing **** out of everyone with their horribly failed attempts at humour and thoroughly embarrass themselves:

And then, just when you are starting to lose hope, two posters appear who actually know boxing, and like to consider issues like these:

Big thanks to these two guys for saving this thread from becoming yet another decent question ruined by troll mongtards like Arsebanger and Spud.

I like JCC's career a bit more, and feel if he isnt necessarily better, he's more dependable in H2H match ups. Roy even at his best is going to come across major problems against the Spinks and Foster's of the sport, I don't think there's anyone at 135-140 I'd pick to beat prime JCC the way I feel the likes of Spinks and a few others would beat Jones at 168-175. The difference in "greatness" is basically negligible though.
