i'd like to see this before adamek fights a klit.

i think it is a perfect fight to gauge where he is at. meehan is a big, tall guy with long reach who has a big punch when he lands it. be good test i believe and a good lead in fight for him imo.

    thoughts?

    Nah.

I like Meehan, and felt he got screwed over a lot by the WBA. But his best days are long behind him. At his best he was able to hang with some of the top dogs in the WBA. Now he would be just a slightly tougher fight than the Golota one was for Adamek.

i think meehan did ok vs chagaev after 2 years of inactivity and was clearly improving as each round went by. with that fight and the quinn fight under his belt i think he would be a tough opponent for adamek at this stage.

don't worry about meehans age, he has not been in many wars and hopkins has shown it comes down to the individual not everyone as a whole how they fare as they get older.

Adamek vs Dimitrenko would be much better. Meehan is 40 years old and past it. Dimitrenko has more attributes that would resemble a Klitschko as opposed to Meehan. It would be a more relevant fight also, seeing they are both rated in the top 10.

There's a rumour floating around that Adamek may face Sam Peters next which could be an interesting matchup. Meehan is a good alternative.

Just because his name gets thrown about alot, I'm going to suggest David Tua as a possible opponent. Sure he isn't at his best anymore (and looked clumsy against Barrett), but this could be a really interesting fight to test how he deals with a big heavyweight puncher with some marketability. However size wise it doesn't prepare him (unlike Grant did).

peter doesn't offer any similarities to a klit, he would be better off against someone with height and reach imo, even if it isn't meehan.

Dimitrenko has to rebuild himself after losing to Chambers. Also the fainting spell doesn't help.

K2 should have some competitive fights on the horizon.

This match up doesn't make much sense from a marketing perspective. After having stay busy fight with Madallone ( and constructively biding time to see what K-bros or Haye would do next), Adamek will probably look for a more recognizable name for his next bout, seeing as how he's probably not getting a title shot next (although a fight with Wlad or Haye is possible if those two cannot work things out but I doubt esp. in Haye's case). That's why I was not surprised to see Peter's name being mentioned. I think Adamek-Povetkin, Adamek-Chambers, Adamek-Dimitrenko are the most compelling match ups that can be made for him but they're probably not going to be made until after Adamek gets his title shot.
