catchweights are made to even out the fight for the smaller man and make it fairer
thats why pacs wins over so called bigger men are not as impressive as they could have been had they not been catchweight fights, the same 5 pounds gained that has helped improve amir khans chin is the same weight that is drained from fighters pac or anyone else asks to fight at these catchweights. i may be mistaken but i dont think roy jones asked ruiz to fight at 15 stone for the heavyweight title when he moved up weight?????

No point for a catchweight with Shane. 154 has been his worst division and the last division he looked good in was at WW so do it there at 147. None of this catchweight mess, really. I can't defend catchweights even being a Pacquiao fan especailly when they don't need it at all versus Shane. TBH, the only time they needed it was against Oscar and that was 2 years ago.

techks i think theyve needed it in every fight they asked for it to give them a edge in the fight hence why they asked cotto to fight at 145 and not ask clottey the same. pac is a legend but these catch weights just dont make what his done as good floyd fought oscar for 154 title and weighed in 150 no talk of catch weight oscar weighed in 154lb. no one was weight drained fair fight

what difference does it make. 148 or 147. Same ****. I don't see the big issue, Pac beats him either way.

Explain why, in this particular case, you believe Mosley would do worse against Pacquiao weighing in at 148lbs as opposed to if he had to shed an extra pound to weigh in at 147?

This. Utterly baffles me why anyone would care at all, let alone get their knickers in such a twist.

Is the sanctity of random alphabet belts really to be treasured?

Just a thought, but maybe that has something to do with the bigger guys he's fighting? Doesn't mater what weight they fight in, he'll always be bigger than Pac. Although I also don't see the point in this catch weight should they ask for one.

147 is the welter wight belt which pac should have no issue making 147 or 148 pac making this weight is not the issue but rather Shane making ether weight . if pac is defending the 154 title then defend it at 154.. This would allow shane to weigh in between 148 to 154, it give shane more berating room.. So why lock shane in at 148 if you're fighting for the jr middle weight title?

At this point everyone is getting a lil tiered of pac's handicap matches.

Because when you're a 147 fighter like Shane, weighing in at 148 rather than 147 is an advantage, not a 'handicap'.
