let me help everyone out here, jones was better.

  2. chavez is lightly higher, i can see more fighters beating jones at lhw than chavez at lw

good point. i'll decline to vote as jones is tied with irish micky as my favourite fighter ever. i'm nowhere near subjective enough to give an honest opinion but i think it's damn close regardless

I'd disagree, especially as LW has a deeper talent pool and Jones beat the best MW/SMWs of his era in Toney and Hopkins and Chavez lost to the best LW of his era in Whitaker

    Jones in my opinion
He beat Hopkins, James Toney, and John Ruiz (HW !)
Chavez beat Rosario, Taylor and Ramirez......

  6. like you said... Of his era.... Whitaker was x2 better than toney and hopkins. I think too that whitaker did beat chavez but it was close.and it prove nothing, simple. Whitaker was much better than toney and hopkins.whitaker is probably the second best lw ever next to duran.

Jones had great natural gifts, and to give him some credit right off the bat, his biggest quality win was without a doubt his decision over Toney...that much said, Chavez wins the thread topic going away..

Yes Whitaker is better than Toney/Hops but not by as much as you insinuate. Plus Jones domianted them going 21-3 against them in rounds. Whitaker on my card heat Chavez 8-4. The fact Jones rarely lost a round also speaks volumes in how hard he was to actually beat

There is NO fighter in history that stands even a quarter of a chance with the best version of Roy Jones at MW/SMW.

I know that is hard for some idiots to take in, but it is very true.

  10. monzÓn,hagler, robinson, greb would beat jones at middle for sure. Men like lamotta, leonard, rubin carter.. Would give him the hell.
At lhw, bob foster and spinks would destroy jones.

How many years did Chavez stay in Top 3 P4P and how many years did Jones?

  12. ye you are right john ruiz was in the big scale of things , a **** heavyweight , but a heavyweight none the less , he was still so much bigger and stronger than Roy , of course thats not the only reason id pick roy obviously his amazing speed and the fact he beat toney and bernard while they were all fresh and not old men

RJJ by a good margin in my view. Chavez was great at LW but he did some ridiculous padding and bum genocide of his own, AND he came up short in a great deal of his biggest fights. Jones still has dominant victories over Hill, Hopkins(whose legacy increases yearly), Toney, and Ruiz.

This is such bull**** dude. Did Jones have a meaningful/lengthy reign at MW? Or even SMW for that matter? He looked great at the weights, but against what kind of competition? This is the exact nuthuggery that makes people dislike Jones and nitpick his career.

  14. other than robinson i dont think any of them would beat Jones at middle to much speed those guys would have never seen anything like it

  15. Ruiz? Who hell is ruiz? John ruiz was a ****ing bum, if you put this jones with the lewis who fought tyson and vitali, and jones get kicked his ass.
