trying to keep things civil in a Floyd thread. I'm sure you can appreciate that.

Well clearly he cant make 140 anymore. Or he would have stuck to the agreed catchweight vs Marquez.

According to Floyd, in the post fight conference (after the Shane fight...@ 4:29 of the video below), he only weighed 147, in the ring, against Shane. But, he said that his goal weight coming into the fight that night was 150-152. While this doesn't specifically answer the question of how much he weighed against Marquez, it does provide a range (between 146-152) that falls somewhat in line with his past fights, at WW and the 1 fight at LMW. I think the claims of him being 160 (on fight night) against JMM, are ridiculous.

Don't know about natural, but he's a full fledged WW today.

The fact he could only get down to 146 for the Marquez fight tells me he is a welterweight now.

I'd say so now, he looked more like a 154lbs to my eyes when in there with Marquez.

I remember looking at Cotto during the Jennings fight and thinking, Cotto looks damn near 154lbs these days, let alone 147, it came as no surprise to me that he moved up not longer after that.

I agree with you that he is of smaller frame than those guys. But I think at this point he has grown into being a welterweight and might not be able to go down a division without weakening himself. Just as Hearns would not have had any hope of making welterweight after a certain point in his career. Manny has grown into being a jr. welterweight from being a flyweight beltholder. Both PBF and Manny are amazing in that they have been champs at numerous weights. They both have skills that allow them to beat higher weight guys. (Neither would be able to beat either Hearns or Leonard IMO).

I'm not sure what you mean by "natural." Was Duran a natural lightweight? At some point his body had no chance of being a lightweight again.

Is Manny a natural flyweight, the weight of his first world title?

His fight night weight is more similar to that of a JWW however if he's going to weigh in at 147lbs he is a Welterweight. Both Mayweather and Pacquiao are better at Welterweight than the lighterweights (physically better not lb for lb better) whereas Marquez doesn't seem to gain in the same way those two do. Marquez fighting Mayweather at WW wasn't competitive and if he were to fight Pacquiao at WW the same would be true.
