I was thinking - Mosley is a really bad option of Pacquiao because he's clearly far past his best. So I began looking into his other options, given his intent to only fight at welterweight, and I don't see a lot that are better.

    Berto is undefeated, but unproven.
Marquez is ineffective at so high a weight.
    Cotto was already beaten
there is no unified 140 champion yet.
Zaveck/Ayden are both completely unproven, and better off fighting Berto than Pacquiao

So if we go by the restrictions that he won't fight in any other weight class than welterweight (meaning no Martinez and no JMM at JWW or LW), who would be your vote for best Pacquiao opponent?

a prime , undefeated berto / currrent champion looks 100 times better than a nearly 40 year old for champion who hasnt won a fight in 2 years

I would like to see him fight Berto. Berto is fast, strong, prime, and a natural welterweight. Sure he's unproven, but he is a dangerous opponent for anyone at 147.

Berto because it will not bring much ridicule to pac, plus If he were to fight mosely, i wouldnt be surprised if bob tells mosley to make sure he loses. Berto will not be bought. (Not saying thtat that is going to be the situation, but boxing is a biz) JMM at 140 yea but i think he is past it and if he loses that *******s will claim that pac was better all along which may not necessarily be the case.

JMM at 140 or even the same 144 catchweight as Floyd fought him at (though I'd expect Manny to honour that limit and not steal an unfair advantage).

toughest fight for Pac from the option available would be the Cotto rematch.

next is Mosley....so Mosley. Berto or Bradley can wait.

for JMM if he acts like Pac and disregard the weight rules it would be

    144 JMM vs 148 PAC

In all of PAC and JMM fights pac has always outweighed JMM last fight was at 140-144 fight night....

4 pound difference is all that matters.

    144JMM vs 148 PAC

but we are not getting it so :-(

    mOSELY IS A DONE DEAL.

JMM at 154 is still a better fight than Mosley. The weight wont matter a bit in that fight. They both weigh about the same on fight night. Of course Roach knows this and knows JMM is not shot yet. Just wait till he is. Then they will come calling to settle it once and for all.

    Of them, Berto.

Would prefer JMM but only at a catchweight of 144.

at WW the best option is either jmm or floyd.

but i would rather see pac fight martinez/cotto/dzindzuruk at 154.

Since the options are restricted to WW...Berto.

-He holds one of the other major titles in the division (WBC)
-He is coming off two very impressive performances, in a row, which were televised on HBO
-He is young and hungry with something to prove
-He is fast, strong and a natural WW
-He is potentially marketable (along with a great A side like Pac)
-He is the future of the division

Of the choices given Berto has the best chance to beat him. This means that he will never fight him. Pacquiao avoids chalanges like a vampire avoids sunlight.
