It just depends wether ARD are prepared to make an offer knowing that it will not get them the fight. All it will do is make the Klits pay more.
From what Bönte said in the b-scene article, Haye has a clause in his slave contract with Sauerland that if he fights on another German network than ARD he has to pay Sauerland some "punitive" penalty. I guess Haye is trying to have Bönte cover that expense for him so the fight can go on RTL. I guess Bönte is saying he will only pay in case there's a higher offer from ARD, he won't pay items out of Haye's slave contract with Sauerland.
we should be happy as boxing fans. all this defending boente and k2 is ridiculous. what have we wanted for the last 2 years? haye to either accept or make a reasonable offer. he has done the latter, we should be pleased he is finally stepping up. we all know wlad has wanted the fight for a long time, so i am sure this silly issue over £300k will be ironed out. lets remember it won't even be a full £300k, only half. a fight of this magnitude we are talking somewhere between 1 and 5 percent. i for one am really happy with these developments. we shouldn't be getting defensive and trying to defend boxers who earn a heck of a lot more than us, and do not know we exist. we should just be contented the fight is being negotiated and encouraging its progress.
Yes that is correct. But listen to exactly what Bönte said. He said he'd be willing to pay up for a difference if in case Booth can present an offer by rival station ARD signed by an executive officer. That were his exact words. From what Bönte said in the b-scene article Booth never presented such an offer. He merely is asking Bönte to cover Haye's expenses to Sauerland because Sauerland wants Haye to pay up in case the fight won't happen on ARD -- thanks to Sauerlands exclusive contractual ties with ARD. That's how I read the b-scene article, just my 2 cents.
regarding this facet of negotiations, i read it as basically to paraphrase booth: sign here and say you will pay half the difference if we get a signed contract boente: give me the contract and i will sign here booth: well sign and i'll bring the contract boente: well bring the contract and i'll sign. i see it as tit for tat and not worthy of breaking up the fight.
I just hope Haye doesn't use this as an excuse to not make the fight. They(Haye and Booth) are the king of excuses.
well i hope neither side uses this as an axcuse not to make the fight. i don't wanna hear excuses coming from haye, wlad, booth nor boente.
HBO money is irrelavent... K2 refuse to be shown on HBO :? some childish cut your nose off to spite your face ****
Latest Interview with Boothe Furious Booth blasted: "Boente, on behalf of Wladimir, has demanded a 50-50 split of all revenue to which we have agreed — that includes money generated by Sky TV here in England. "He also demanded the fight be screed in Germany by RTL even if ARD, our own broadcaster in Germany, offered more money — we have also agreed to that. "I could not get to Berlin to negotiate face-to-face with Boente because of the obvious travel problems and email could have provided the perfect solution. "Boente wanted all the money agreed by January 4 and we are able to meet his deadline — but I am told that he has now flown off on holiday to Miami until January 21. "What perturbs me is that in all emails from Boente he either starts or finishes with 'there is no point in negotiating'. "Yet overnight, Vitali Klitschko says his brother Wlad is ready to fight David — I am wondering what kind of game they are playing. "We have agreed to all of Klitschko's demands, yet we are being told there is no point in negotiating. "Fans out there have every right to feel they might be being misled by some of the statements that are coming out. "Boente is telling me they are ready to do the fight with Dereck Chisora — which was postponed because of an injury to Wlad — and that we should start talking to other interested parties. "It leaves a bit of a sour taste so now I have asked Wladimir whether he wants this fight. Al I want from them is a straight yes of no. Advertisement "If he says yes, then fine, let's do it. If the answer is no, then the whole of the boxing world needs to know just who is saying what."
This is a good post. I've said to a few people that in their eyes, Haye can't win. I don't see how anyone can put a negative spin on this. We've wanted Haye to do this exact thing for the past couple of years and now he has, yet people still moan?
This is pretty interesting. Especially the line about Boente always saying "There is no point negotiating". I think Boente and Sauerland have been the real issue so far.
