Like it was mentionned earlier in the thread. The IBF does not allow a guy who was officially koed in his last fight to get a title shot. So Green would have to find a way to beat someone before the fight. Don't think it's doable on such short notice.
Mate, 4 - 5 years ago, Bute had like 14 fights. Abraham, Kessler were new champs at 160. Froch, a prospect, Ward and Dirrell weren't on anyone's radar. Who was he suppose to fight 5 years ago? Calzaghe?
I think Brian Magee is a much better opponent than Jesse Brinkley, its probably the best opponent available in the SMW division with limited hassle.
I think it's clear that Interbox has no confidence in their star protegé. They failed to secure a fight with Froch, they blatantly ducked Pascal and Bute himself wanted nothing to do with Kessler. Now we got another face-first fighter tailor-made for Bute to look good, although I'm sure Magee will make it a fight. Interbox didn't want to pay enough for Sartison even though he carries an alphabet-title ('regular' lol) that could bring in some leverage for future fights. Instead they feed Bute with the easier Magee for lesser money and the canadian pulic buys it yet again. SMH.
Kessler fan? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277236 And don't forget the memo @ post #5. Oh, and if you don't mind linking articles/facts to "Bute blatantly ducked Pascal", that'd be awesome... Bute has had no will to go up to 175 so far.
That's a ridiculous lowball offer for Sartison and I suspect that you know it. Bute ducked Pascal. How else can you interpret that Bute's excuse was weight and the week after Interbox announces that they are in negotiations to get Danny Green who's a goddamn CRUISERWEIGHT. Lol.
Sartison doesn't draw **** in North America. Lowball or not, he chose to stay home. Again, you got a link on the Bute ducking Pascal thingy?! GYM never, never made an official offer/proposal to Interbox for a Bute-Pascal fight. Both know they make money off of defending their current belts, and both know that they'll make even more money off of such a fight in 2012-13. Improved resumes i.e. notorious opponents from around the world for both of them, set the stage for Bute to move up to LHW (either hits a wall, or cleans the div). Battle for Canadian boxing supremacy 1.5 to 2 years from now, 35 000 people @ Olympic Stadium. There you go.
My guess for Bute's 3 showtime opponents: 1: Magee. 2: Mendy. 3: Stevens or Pavlik (if he gets off the booze). A complete waste of a career so far and if I'm correct in the above, the trend will continue.
His chin isnt as bad as dunnes though, hes been down several times before but only a world class fighter with a big punch like Froch stopped him. Id agree with you though about Magee being under rated. Most here on the general havent even seen him fight, hes a good technician and he will definetly give it his best. Imo hes going to be beaten clearly but he will give Bute a tougher fight than Brinkley did.
He is bigger and a much more talented boxer than brinkley but all i can see is one of Butes uppercuts landing and Magee being knocked clean out.... Could happen any round....
As I said the canadian public sadly cannot tell the difference. Hence Interbox feeds Bute the easiest. I'm not familiar with the articles on this site as I come from another forum, but you know yourself that the fight was what mattered in Canada after Pascal beat Dawson. That would have been the biggest fight in Canadian history AFAIK. Instead Bute continues his feast on clubfighters sadly.
