Nipper Daly - The youngest ever pro boxer aged 9?

Never heard of Daly before this...top 10 by the Ring at the age of 16!

His record on Boxrec doesnt really do him justice, the guys he was fighting at 14/15 were amongst the best in Europe, at a time when fly and bantam had a lot more active fighters than they do today, but the numbers on their records are incomplete.

 

Cracking read btw obviously not an easy thing to research but would love to read more about him I wonder hwat happened to him after his boxing career

 

Good read but thank **** for modern boxing with all the Asian's and South Americans to pad out the lower weight classes.

It's desperately sad to see how much he gave to the Sport from such a young age, almost his whole childhood and yet never ended up winning a title or making a living out of it. Imagine giving all that to something and then being finished by the time you've even reached man hood.

 

I'm a grandson of the boxer this thread is about.

Firstly, it's a real shame to see the one or two idiotic and distasteful posts that have been written on here. Perhaps the person who wrote them, after reading this, would be big enough to edit or delete them - I wouldn’t like for any other members of my family to stumble across them as I just have.

Or if a moderator happens to be reading this, perhaps they can edit or delete those posts for him.

To whoever the guy is who wrote the article on Nipper Pat – nice job. It's good to see him receiving the recognition he deserves.

 

cant believe he retired at 18 and boxed at 9!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is wierd, apparently after 1 of his wins he walked all the way home from birmingham to london after 12 rounds of boxing aged 15!! nutter
