God bless all you guys! Never saw this years ago, but your faith will not be wasted. . . I will go to the gym tomorrow, and do these full hanging thingies correctly, and come back with the real number. The problem is that I have a tendency to kip and swing into the motion, so with kipping its well over 40. A strict form is something I will need to concentrate on with a full range of motion.
Mate, I made that post like 3 years ago, I've learned a lot since then. Crossfit to me now is shite. It's full of self righteous, annoying assholes that get a bit too excited over the fact they took 2 seconds off their "Fran" time.
One thing Ive noticed when it comes to pull ups, run times, push ups ect a lot of people take their best stats from years ago, add a few more on to that and say they can do it currently. If you stop doing pull up / chin ups your max drops down pretty fast, same with running ect. If you havent done it in years you wont be where you used to be
you the guy I saw doing the handstands ang have a huge bench for a quite small guy ? if so u were quite the athlete I bet u can do 50
10-15 right now but when i have a pullup bar set up, doing sets a day ill do 25 give or take. Have to set another one up, not a laddy now and rekon could pump out more than 25 after a couple weeks.
Today, at the end of my work out, with ABSOLUTELY STRICT FORM, all the way down, wait four seconds, all the way up over the chin for at least half a second, SLOWLY with NO SWING to my body motion, I did 20. These would have satisfied anybody, as there was a pause, a STOP at the bottom with my arms as fully extended as they possibly can (felt pain in my underarms from that) and a slow full extension all the way up with a pause at the top. My gym does not allow cameras, but I can try to sneak one in. If you allow me slightly more rapidity that would risk some lower body motion, I could have made forty to forty five, but I felt like my FORM WAS GOING TO SUFFER IF I CONTINUED PAST 20, and I want no naysayers. Those were as legtimate as I could make them. So as of today, after my workout, I will say 20 perfect ones.
I am about to attempt this, my guess is 20+. At the moment I'm also following Ross Enamait 50 day sample program, I think one of the circuits is 1min burpees, 1min pushups, 1min squats, 1min pull-ups, no rest in between and repeat that 3 times. I think Ross can probably do 100 pull-ups based on how hard his circuits are...
OK just done them, did 21 and that was maxed out, tried to reach 25 but couldn't pull anymore. Considering I've already ran 5 miles and did tabata format bodyweight exercises today, plus the fact I haven't done pullups in 3 months, I think within 2 weeks I will aim for 30+.
