Kell Brook's WBO title shot on hold, he should fight Matt Hatton!

Matthew's KO ratio is way too high for Warren to risk Brook.

Especially with the brutal body shot KO last time out.

This is the fight in britain that makes the most sense at welterweight. Whether it happens or not is another matter? but if Brook can't get a fight with Matt then he needs to quickly move on to facing world class fighters whoever they are. He is waaay above domestic or even european level now, and what would be a disaster for him now... is if he went stale from fighting lesser opposition.

That being said he could also do with getting a bit more publicity over here so a fight with Hatton would do that bit more for him.

Good fight but I ****ing hate those interim straps! Warren should just get him somebody to fight that will get rated high by another sanctioning body because the WBO route is goinng to take ages now...

 

I could see Brook-Jennings II for the WBO Interim title (or some sort of WBO bauble) next.

 

Even I think that's a bit of a long shot... but who knows when it comes to Warren and the WBO?

 

Is Saul Alvarez still ok with making 147? I'd like to see him against Kell at some point in the future.

 

I don't think he ever expected Pacquiao to keep hold of his WBO belt so that's obviously another stumbling block. His best bet is probably the WBO route at the moment, get hold of that interim and force the WBO into a position where they have to order Pacquiao to defend. Obviously no way he takes that fight so they obviously get to fight for the vacant belt, probably hoping against somebody not that highly rated.

That had a stroke of luck really with Mike Jones deciding the rematch Soto Karass, that should have left them in the position to fight for the vacant belt against somebody like Demyanenko, but obviously Pacquiao defending the belt against Mosley and not being stripped has put that on hold, and the Jones fight might come back around in the meantime.

So yeah, best bet for me is to get somebody in from the WBO top 15 who's beatable, get that fight on a big Warren show for the interim WBO, keep hold of that while waiting for Pacquiao to eventually vacate and then hope that they get upgraded to full champion status like Alex Arthur was without having to fight somebody like Jones for a vacant title.

WBA route might not be a bad shout if that doesn't come off. I don't think Brook would beat either Berto or Zaveck so that rules out the WBC & IBF routes. WBA wise, Senchenko is good and might very well be too much for Brook at this point but it would be the next best option. Matt Hatton is rated #6 by the WBA for some reason [in there latest ranking from October anyway] so if they could get that fight, would probably put him high up.

Probably not high enough though, there's currently not a mandatory but they'd still be behind Alvarez, Jones, Brad Solomon and Leonard Bundu so they'd have to work very hard behind the scenes to try and push Brook ahead of all those. I don't think the Hatton fight is one that would come off anyway. WBO is the best route by far, just one that now has it's obstacles.

The WBO aren't going to put Pacquiao on the spot with regard to which division (if that's really relevant) he fights.

They just want to be on board and collect their $$$$$$ - Ray Leonard held a WBC title at 147 and the WBA at 154 when he fought Tommy Hearns.

Sillyman wanted Martinez to choose a division so he could get the title earning money for him..... that won't happen to Pac.

Either way, neither the WBC or WBO is going to strip Pacquiao for not defending his title.

Even if they have to wait six months for another fight, the subsequent payday will be more than what another ''champion'' can get them.

 

I don't know to be honest mate, I was sure I heard it was for the WBO welterweight belt. Sugar Shane is ignoring me on Twitter asking what weight it's at, so I really don't know.
