(CNN) -- "Sugar" Shane Mosley has vowed to knock out Manny Pacquiao when the pair face each other at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on May 7.
Following confirmation that Mosley will challenge for Pacquiao's World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title next year, the American believes the Philippine legend can be beaten.
Speaking to ***********.com website, the 39-year-old Mosley, who was beaten by Floyd Mayweather Jr. earlier this year, said: "Pacquiao's defense is not as good as Floyd Mayweather's defense.
"I think I can probably win a decision but I am going into the fight to knock Manny out," Mosley added.
"I am pretty sure that Manny will be trying to knock me out as well -- that is why it is going to be a great contest. We are two guys who are willing to fight."
With Pacquiao's long-anticipated fight against Mayweather Jr. still no nearer to becoming a reality, veteran Mosley -- who has held world titles at lightweight, welterweight and light-middleweight -- was seen as one of the few viable aternatives, despite his unimpressive draw against Sergio Mora in September.
Mosley has lost six of his 54 fights while 32-year-old Pacquiao, viewed by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, has only been beaten three times in his career and will be seeking his 14th consecutive victory.

This fight might not be the most attractive fight for pacman but style wise you know this would be a war. Shane only chance is to win by KO so he'll be swinging. I think this fight would be entertaining while it last cuz of their style.

    He had better.

If he loses this (and he probably will), I'm officially done with Mosley and will not watch any further fights of his.

Seeing him slice ineffectively at Mora was just awful. Honestly, he should have stuck with Jin (her plan was to get him out of the sport one year/two fights after Mayorga).

This should be his last fight unless he upsets pacquiao(hope not) but after this fight he should have enough money to live a good life.

If there's a 24/7, we'll see Pac having his worst camp ever while Mosley will look like a supernatural beast.

And days before the fight, we'll see the same old threads on how Pac will be leaving on a stretcher.

    Pretty boring.

I dont think he will knock him out, Pac will probably beat him more convincingly than Mayweather did because of his non stop attacks.

the only war this fight will remind anyone of is the first Gulf War. Total lopsided blowout, over before it started.

    Do the math:

    Berto > Marquez
    Pac = Marquez
    Pac > Berto
    Mosley > Berto
    Mosley > Marquez

    but....

    Pac >>>>> Mosley ?
