david price will go far.......IF he goes to manny steward! he could be the next wladimir klitschko with chin problems.
I can see him getting sprawled out on the canvas in the near future. Apparently his chin isnt all that.
This is my main issue with him at the moment. He's obviously naturally heavy-handed and with his height, he should really be ramming that jab through his opponents guard looking to bust them up and split their D for his right hand. Yet he just paws with it or throws pitter-pat jabs that do nothing.
That's a fundamental problem with the amateur game.... you don't get rewarded for jabbing, so they tend to paw with it to find the range for the scoring punches. I'd imagine habits of a lifetime are hard to shift :think That said, Fury has a very good jab, and has put away better opponents than Price has in far more convincing fashion. I like the kid, but can't help but think something isn't quite right, given the opponents they are matching him with and how he has (at times) struggled.... there's the problems with his chin, he just folded in the Olympics, albeit against a top opponent. For all the stick Fury gets, he's proven (at domestic level at least) his heart, chin and power...... he's a work in progress. David needs to ditch Maloney and go to the States or Germany to get some top sparring in. I'm not sure how it will help Jeffries, but I think Price is the better of the two and can learn from a Tommy Brooks.
I think he is completely disinterested atm and it shows in some of his performances and who can blame him? He hasnt fought in Liverpool since his debut and it seems to me that little effort or thought is being put into his development considering he is a heavy and a bronze medalist.
I'd look disinterested too if my opponent had a bigger gut than most dart players. Signing with Maloney was a big mistake IMO..... he's just too cautious with his matchmaking, Warren is quite reckless by comparison. Not sure if it's the ''he's got a track record with heavies because of Lewis....'' or not, but like you say an Olympic medallist, especially a heavyweight should have a bit of a profile. Frankie Gavin isn't any more an Olympian than you or me, but the word is out there, people know who he is, roughly what weight he's at and how good he is. Ask most people outside Liverpool who David Price is and they'd look blank, which is a shame.
Dont see that tbh. Particularly Fury, the only novelty about his is a silly sounding name. He is a fat gypsy that talks pikey, horrible crude style....I genuinely dont understand why people think this guy could be a crossover star.
We might see a drastic improvement if he fought somebody worth a ****. I'd like to see him V's Larry O, I won't write him off yet but he has been very disappointing.
Price beat fury in the aba's & Tom Dallas on a couple of occasions, also I heard he 'schooled' Chisora in the England camp, I know there is a big difference in am & pro but he can't be happy with how his career has gone so far, a British title is well within his abilities. I wonder where he'd be now if he had gone with Warren?
Chisora would wreck Prices chin! I ain't got any issues with Price he seems a good lad but he ain't going far on early evidence. He needs to get moving sharpish and also work on his technical flaws.
to long as an amateur, a lot of the amateurs who turn pro in the last few years have the same problem, its touchy touchy, instead of smash smash.:think:good
You're missing the point. I'm saying If they were world beaters, they definitely have the big star potential and would cross-over IMO. So what if Fury is gypsy? the kid is a character and would get people interested. Price has that Hatton-esque type of following potential and if he was the goods, trust me coming out of a city like Liverpool he'd be huge. The fact that he's a heavyweight wouldn't harm him either.
By the way, what evidence of a **** chin is there? i'm not doubting it, but I hear it a lot and don't know where it comes from, was he ko'd a lot in the ams?
