De La Hoya has a really impressive tough early resume. beating Jeff Mayweather in his 1st year. every fight against winning records. And fighers better than this for the first 19 fights of his career?

His first 7 opponents included Kelly Pavlik, Sergio Mora, and Librado Andrade!

Sonny Liston- Johnny Summer (2 wins) became a top 10 boxer a year after I believe. This was Sonny's 6th and 7th fight. Fought Marty Marshall a few fights later a top 10 lightheavyweight.

As far as I am aware he fought no notable opponents on the world stage until he fought Danny Lopez. Of course after that it was first tier opposition all the way, but before on I don't recognise anything. Wanna fill me in?

Sanchez pretty much came out of nowhere to beat Little Red. That was suppose to be a "routine title defense."

Kostya Tszyu and Azumah Nelson were on the world title scene pretty sharpish.

Yep but while nelson was given to Sanchez as a easy defence Tsyzu was quicky managed. They certainly don't **** about in Australlia- did you know Michael Katsidis second pro fight was a scheduled 12 rounder. Don't get me wrong I'm sure his opponent was probably not thought of well enough to do 12 with a banger like Katisidis but if that didn't happen it becomes a risk. Very nice matchmaking to see.

Jesus! Pete Rademacher has to have had the most difficult opposition ever for a new pro.
